GetALong Dachshund Rescue is a foster based rescue. What that means is we solely rely on fosters to house our rescues. The rescue is in need of fosters. We cannot save lives without your help. I’m sure many of you have questions about fostering. The best way to answer those questions is to hear from our fosters themselves.

Meet our foster Jackie!

Hi! I’m Jackie and I foster in Ohio. One of the great things about GetALong Dachshund Rescue is that we have fosters in most states. GDR has a great transport team that will transport the dogs to you, and will also transport the dogs to their new adopted home. I’ve fostered about 16 dogs for the rescue so far. Whenever there is a dog in need, the rescue reaches out to see who is available. I’ve always had the choice to say no if I’m not ready. All the vetting is paid through the rescue. I think fostering is very important because it helps save lives of the unwanted. I’ve loved every dog that has been in my home for whatever amount of time they’ve been here. Of course it’s very sad when they go, but I always keep in contact with the adopters. It fills my heart when the dogs are placed in the perfect home. It’s a truly gratifying experience. if you’re interested in fostering, please contact the rescue. You will be rewarded with kisses, snuggles, and an abundance of gratitude!

In Loving Memory of Dolly Parton
Who advocated for animal welfare.

Doggy Parton Brand: She launched a pet clothing line called Doggy Parton where a portion of the proceeds goes to Willa B. Farms, a nonprofit animal rescue in Tennessee.

Wildlife Conservation: She supported the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary at Dollywood through a partnership with the American Eagle Foundation to protect and recover bald eagle populations.

PETA Collaboration: She lent her music and voice to campaigns reminding people that dogs need companionship and care instead of being left alone.

Oscar and Mayer had two big days of traveling to get them to their foster home in Maryland. They got in lots of sniffing and are resting up for more! 😆
