Down Home Days 2026, in the books!!!I love Down Home Days for so many reasons…..the biggest is that IT IS COMMUNITY!!!IT IS CONNECTIONS that get lost in the bustle of everyday life!!!!and for me it is about a town that not only I grew up in but that my children grew up in, went and continue to go to school and work in and that I have a business and a side job in, and in the past few years a non profit that reaches the world in, IT IS ABOUT LIFE, and honestly ALL LIVES MATTER TO ME!!No matter the size of the crowd or the reason we
Gather……reaching just one…..MATTERS, Mathew 18:12 reminds us “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?” That is so much a part of OUR COMMUNITY, OUR PURPOSE AND OUR LORD JESUS WHO COMES AFTER THE ONE JUST AS HARD (harder) AS HE DOES THE 99!!!So much goes into the process of putting it all together, I can’t imagine, because just the four hour build that we do to put a float together is exhausting, i imagine it is just so for those coordinating a week long event alongside their daily lives of work and family…….me, mama and Star put this years float together, as my mind gets a little overstimulated and mama knows to just wait for me to say GO lol without it hurting her feelings …….growing up in Madison gives me a sense of pride for this event as I can remember me and my kids wandering the streets taking pictures and not only thinking g about the future but learning from the past…..my main focus for this years vintage Florida came from the big metal to***co barn on 53…..YES THOUGHT GOES INTO THE DETAILS…..I looked it up and researched it and Florida was a huge economic resource including right here in Madison, both my parents picked and hung to***co, my mama had stories as we “hung fake to***co in our To***co house” she also told about picking cotton and picking up eggs while pregnant to help support our family…….there was a big oak tree complete with Spanish moss and an alligator and turtle because FLORIDA!!!I even included a flag from
One our first GOD AND COUNTRY Fourth of July events because MADISON IS FARM COUNTRY!!!And my Christopher was “bout that farm life” I got 2 bails of hay (2 was his number) and I got them from AFJR Beef and Alfalfa who Christopher worked for for many years, becoming a part of their family began many years before, but he was always like one of their kids…..almost like he probably taught them a little about how they parent their own kids 🤣 patience being key……but GOD AND COUNTRY rang in my mind over and over……and it brought Christopher’s message into it as well….there was a porch complete with rocking chair, cause country folk sit on the porch and wave at all the passer bys……there was a truck (driven by Claire, who talks about Christopher sometimes like she’s known him) and a cowboy on a John Deere tractor (Christopher loved John Deere so much he got a hand tattoo that I only fussed about for a day) there was a “tourist”, and a front porch waver, important over it all, there was family on the float and in the truck driving it……because FAMILY IS EVERYTHING!!!Connections were made in and around our booth, with old and new friends and mothers on my same grief journey……when I was heading home at the end of the day I got a rainbow (a sun dog) because “Sometimes the smallest signs carry the biggest meaning.” The sky was happy!!!and so was I!!!if you’ve made it this far and you are not a follower of Christopher’s Message please like and follow our page…..it helps us reach more people and it’s FREE to do!! ITS A WIN, WIN!!!We love you all!!!And we love MADISON!!!Thank you to Madison County (FL) Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, and Tri-County Electric Cooperative Inc for the hard work and dedication to these events, we enjoyed sitting with Madison County Emergency Management and CareerSource North Florida Who both help Our community tremendously and thanks to the City of Madison Florida and Madison County Florida Board of County Commissioners for all that you do for our city and county!!!

To say it is humbling to receive such an honor, is an understatement…..our community is one that we love so much, and those outside of our community that send love and support as well, give us encouragement to keep having those tough conversations with others…..I cried tonight when Jodi said Christophers Message, because GOD uses our pain for purpose and through us he sends hope to others…ROMANS 8:28 “and we know that for those that love GOD, all things work together for good, for those that are called according to his purpose” 💜🩵YOUR LIFE MATTERS!💜🩵
