Congratulations to the 2026 WHA Health Care Leadership Academy graduates! Over the past five months, these health care leaders have strengthened their understanding of the business of health care through the WHA Health Care Leadership Academy, a program launched in 2022 in partnership with the Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional & Executive Development (CPED). Designed for both clinical and non-clinical professionals, the Academy equips emerging leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to better patient care, cost management and service delivery.

Day 2 of the 2026 Wisconsin Rural Health Conference began with “Rural Health Care Today and Tomorrow: A Conversation with WHA CEO Leaders.”
Moderated by WHA President and CEO Kyle O’Brien, this session featured panelists Matt Heywood, President & CEO, Aspirus Health; Dan Rohrbach, President & CEO, Southwest Health; John Russell, President & CEO, Prairie Ridge Health; and Heather Schimmers, President, Emplify Health. Focused on the trends, challenges and opportunities shaping rural health care delivery in Wisconsin, this session offered perspective directly from the leaders who are navigating these issues every day and helping guide the future of health care in rural communities.
