We are a Wisconsin-based 501c3 charitable organization promoting the animal-human bond and literacy through education, evaluation, and participation of therapy animal teams. Dogs On Call is a local chapter of Pet Partners International, one of the premiere therapy animal organizations in the United States. Our 95 all-volunteer members provide free pet visits to brighten the lives of thousands of patients, eldercare residents, students, and young library patrons in 100+ locations each year. Our Dogs On Call mission is to train, evaluate and mentor new therapy animal teams, so we can fill therapy animal team requests in south central Wisconsin.

Thanks to the teams that Smith Hall (a UW dorm) last Thursday -- Kari & Freyja, Nina & Arty, Mary Beth & Hoover, Todd & Millie, and Bill and Jane & Bailey. We had a wonderful turnout!

As a retired UW High Risk RN-Ultrasonographer, Barb T. was recently asked to visit with Millie at the UW Ultrasound School. As you can see, they had quite an audience!

More pictures from Czar's Promise Walk. We had several shifts, as our pet partners are only allowed 2 hours of visit time per day. Shown here: Dawn & Gaia, Tami & Darby, Kari with Freyja, Sula, and Katla, Ruth & Bennie, Pat & Moonpie, Anja & W***y. What a glorious day for this fantastic local fundraiser!

At our annual member picnic, there was a drawing for small pet-related gifts. Team Kay & Jessie won a gift, but since Jessie isn't into toys, they took it home to Jessie's sibling, Ruby, who has played with it every day since. What's your dog's favorite toy?

Our monthly visits to the Mental Health Hub at the UW Student Activity Center are very popular with students. Thanks to teams Kay & Jessie, Mary Beth & Hoover, and Carrie & Stella who were our September teams. Kay reports that there were so many students trying to get access that they had to let them enter in waves for 10 minutes at a time.

Welsh Springer Spaniel Hank's socialization continues. Here he is with handler Karen P. at dog-friendly Bass Pro Shop in Sun Prairie, which has quite a few taxidermy displays. Do you think Hank is all set for the 'neutral dog' exercise?

Good luck to everyone who is testing this weekend, and, as always, big thanks to all the volunteers that make our workshop weekends such a success. Here you see just a small group of volunteer teams helping out with a recent handler workshop. There are also those who book the room, take the registration and communicate with participants, assign instructors and evaluators, the instructors and evaluators themselves, those who play "the crowd" in the evaluation or who provide the "neutral dog", those who get snacks, set up the room, put out signage on the street, file the results with Pet Partners -- it takes a village. New teams: Please consider joining our village!
