Today, 10/14 at 5:30 pm the Dane County Health and Human Needs Committee will consider budget amendments to the human services budget. HHN Operating amendments 1-7 help restore proposed cuts to several agencies for mental health and supportive services by eliminating internal county human services positions - this is a good move and begins to address twenty plus years of bad public policy in terms of Dane County's cuts to human services provided by non-profits while increasing the number of their own department staff at very high wages and very, very generous benefit packages.

The amendments are a first step in reversing 20 plus years of bad County funding policy that undermines the safety net by cutting human service providers while increasing internal county department budgets, staffing, wages and benefits.

We would love to put the link here but META has decided that we only get to share two links per month on our site unless we'd like to pay $49.99 per month. So, got to Dane County Legistar - click on County Committees - click Health and Human Needs and the meeting agenda for today - the agenda has instructions for registering to speak or to email supervisors. Register in support of HHN o 01-HHN o 07 to help restore some of the proposed funding cuts in the Dane County Department of Human Services Budget. You'll need to register by 5:00 p.m. to speak.
