Wisconsin NewsMedia Association The WNA serves as the single point of contact for Wisconsin’s news media organizations.

In addition to serving its members, the association provides advertising placement services, searchable public notice site and news monitoring service - News Tracker. Created by and for Wisconsin’s newspapers, WNA exists to strengthen the newspaper industry, enhance public understanding of the role of newspapers, and protect basic freedoms of press, speech and the free flow of information. Over th

e years, the association has established a number of services for its members, advertisers and the general public. WNA is the single point-of-contact for working with newspapers in Wisconsin. In addition to serving 223 member newspapers (31 dailies and 192 weeklies), WNA serves advertisers through advertising placement programs (Customized Newspaper Advertising) and additional clients through WisconsinNewsTracker.com (news tracking and release services). Supporting WNA goals is the WNA Foundation, a not-for-profit organization created in 1980 to improve the quality and future of Wisconsin’s newspapers and the communities they serve. The foundation solicits, manages and disburses funds and other resources for the benefit of Wisconsin’s newspaper industry and, ultimately, the citizens of our state.

The Wisconsin NewsMedia Association Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2027 Wisconsin Newspaper Hall of Fame class. Nominations are due no later than Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.

Created in 2001 to honor visionaries and innovators in the Wisconsin newspaper industry, the Wisconsin Newspaper Hall of Fame has inducted 77 individuals.

The Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation has announced that nominations for 2027 Wisconsin Newspaper Hall of Fame class are due no later than Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.

Ken Armstrong has reported, written, or edited award-winning stories across traditional longform writing, podcasts, television, and, most recently, web comics.

On this week’s Nieman Storyboard podcast, Armstrong talks about the importance of storytelling in investigative journalism and the role narrative has played throughout his career, from The Seattle Times and The Marshall Project to ProPublica and Bloomberg News.

The conversation also looks at “TrAPPed,” Bloomberg’s Pulitzer-winning illustrated story about a neurologist in India who was held captive under “digital arrest” as part of an elaborate scam.
