🎉 Congratulations to SPCCS alumnus Matt Odom, Class of 1996, on being featured in the 2026 Southeast Emmy Award-winning series Colors of Atlanta!
The four-part series follows 12 visionary photographers as they seek to capture the essence of Atlanta in a single image, documenting the creative process from concept to final photograph. The series earned a Southeast Emmy, and we are proud that one of those featured artists is a son of St. Peter Claver Catholic School.
Matt's work has appeared in some of the world's most respected publications, including The New York Times and National Geographic. For Colors of Atlanta, he chose Atlanta's historic Oakland Cemetery as the setting for a striking portrait of harpist Lyrika Holmes—a powerful reminder that beauty, history, and culture are often found in the places where stories are preserved.
Perhaps it is no coincidence. Matt's roots are in Macon, the Soul of the South. He attended St. Peter Claver Catholic School, founded in 1903 by St. Katharine Drexel and nestled in the heart of the Historic Pleasant Hill neighborhood. Surrounded by the rich history of our community—and landmarks such as Riverside and Linwood cemeteries—Matt grew up in a place where every street, building, and monument tells a story. His work continues that tradition, using photography to reveal the people, places, and histories that shape us.

And SPCCS friends may notice another familiar face in the episode. Briefly appearing as part of Matt's photography team is our friend and creative collaborator, Dsto Moore. A gifted self-taught photographer with a remarkable eye for portraiture, Dsto has partnered with SPCCS since 2018 to help tell our story. Through his lens, generations of our students have been portrayed with dignity, beauty, joy, and authenticity. We are grateful for the care and artistry he brings to capturing the spirit of our school community.
From the halls of St. Peter Claver Catholic School to an Emmy-winning production, these talented storytellers remind us that photography is about more than images—it is about seeing people, places, and communities as they truly are.
📸 Congratulations, Matt! And thank you, Dsto, for helping the world see the beauty of SPCCS.
