Alex II PTA End-of-Year Meeting Recap
May 18, 2026 @ 5pm Via Teams Meeting
Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the Alex II PTA End-of-Year Meeting. Below is a summary of important updates and decisions made during the meeting.
⚠️ Important Compliance Update
In May, the Alex II PTA was notified by the Georgia PTA that our unit is currently not in Good Standing and is at risk of retention status due to:
An audit not being filed by current treasurer
The IRS 990-N filing not being filed by current treasurer
Officer agreements not being submitted to the Georgia PTA by current secretary
Please know that we are actively working with the Georgia PTA to restore compliance and remain committed to continuing the important work we do for our school community.
✅ Bylaws Amendments Approved
The following amendments to the Alex II PTA bylaws were approved:
Allowing the option of having two Secretaries serve on the PTA Board
Increasing State and National PTA dues to reflect fee increases required by the Georgia PTA
✅ 2026–2027 Budget Vote Passed
The proposed PTA budget for the upcoming school year was approved. However, two budget categories did not pass:
❌ Spirit Shop Merchandise/Open House
As this category was not approved:
No new PTA designed spirit wear designs will be introduced for the 2026–2027 school year.
No additional giveaway inventory or freebies will be available with PTA memberships.
This budget category was designed to break even on cost and represented one of the PTA’s largest existing fundraising revenue sources. Because this category was not approved, no additional funding is currently available for expansion or future enhancements within this area for the 2026-2027 school year.
❌ PTA Meeting Class Award for a pizza party and drinks for parent/guardian participation
Because this category did not pass:
Classes will not receive winner attendance incentive parties or prizes for PTA General Meeting participation unless donations are provided
If you are interested in donating prizes for one classroom winner per meeting, please contact the PTA at: [email protected]
These outcomes highlight the importance of PTA member attendance and participation in meetings, as member votes directly impact programs and incentives included in the budget.
Leadership Update
During the meeting, PTA President Rocio Garcia announced that she has withdrawn her candidacy for the 2026–2027 school year and will be taking extended personal leave for the remainder of the current fiscal year to focus on family. We sincerely thank Rocio for her dedication, leadership, and service to the Alex II community.
PTA Board Vacancy Announcement
The Alex II PTA currently has a vacancy for the Treasurer position on the PTA Board. We are seeking one active PTA member who has paid there member dues for the 2025-2026 fiscal year that is interested in serving our school community in this important role.
If you are interested or would like more information about the position, please contact us at: [email protected]
💙 Thank You to Our School Community
The PTA extends heartfelt appreciation to all families, volunteers, staff, and supporters. Your generosity and involvement helped make possible:
Speaker system with mics and PE equipment for the Gym
Opening of the Outdoor classroom and school grounds improvements
School dances
Student art days
Back-to-School Bash
Staff Appreciation Events
Outdoor cleanup and beautification projects
Restoration of the outdoor mural
And many other initiatives benefiting our students and school
None of this would have been possible without your continued support.
