🧪🔬 STEM Fun with Coach Kylee! 🔬🧪

Our members have been putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test over the last two weeks through hands-on STEM activities!

They explored the fascinating science behind Oobleck, a shear-thickening fluid that acts like a solid when force is applied but flows like a liquid when moved slowly. It was the perfect way to learn about states of matter while having a blast!

Our young engineers also took on a design challenge where they planned, built, tested, and improved structures using limited materials. Through teamwork and persistence, they discovered the importance of stability, balance, and the engineering design process.

At the Boys & Girls Club of Deep East Texas – Lufkin, learning is always an adventure, and we’re proud to watch our members grow their curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking skills every day! 💙💛

💚💛🤎Celebrating Juneteenth at the Boys & Girls Club of Deep East Texas – Lufkin! 💚💛🤎

Today was filled with fun, teamwork, great food, and community as we celebrated Juneteenth together!

A huge thank you to Raising Cane’s for donating drinks for our members and staff. We also want to thank our dedicated Lufkin Advisory Board Members who came out to help serve snow cones and spend time with our youth.

Thank you to our incredible staff who refereed our indoor soccer games and helped keep the day running smoothly. A special thank you goes to Angelina College Soccer for teaching and mentoring our members throughout the summer. The improvement in our players’ skills and confidence was on full display today, and these exciting games would not have been possible without their support.

We are also grateful to the staff and members who helped prepare over 100 hot dogs, cut up watermelon, and assemble plates for everyone to enjoy. It truly took a team effort!

One of the highlights of the day was our watermelon-eating competition. Congratulations to Yanelle for taking home the win! 🍉🏆

Most importantly, thank you to our amazing members. Your enthusiasm, energy, and positive spirit are what make every Club event so special.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we honor the importance of freedom, resilience, and unity. It is a day to remember our history, celebrate progress, and continue building a future where every young person has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Coach Cadence truly embodies what it means to be a part of the Boys & Girls Club family. She genuinely cares about our members, supports her coworkers, and consistently goes above and beyond to make the Club a better place for everyone.

Whether it’s helping a member, assisting a teammate, or stepping up wherever she’s needed, Coach Cadence does it all without hesitation. Her positive attitude, dedication, and willingness to serve make a lasting impact each and every day.
