Open House Info: (Please read all if you are planning to come.)

We know everyone has been anxiously awaiting our opening. June 20th from Noon-6pm will be the first time we will open up the space to the public. Due to the amount of interest we have had, we have decided to waive entry fee but ask everyone to expect only 15-20 mins in the cat lounge, in order for as many people as possible to get a chance to check everything out.

Please understand the cats' well being is our top priority and being introduced to a new space, other new cats and then a stream of new people can all be stressful. This is a process we are still working out and we may not have as many cats during this event as we plan to have in the future. Be prepared to listen to instructions, regarding interacting with the cats.

All children 8-15 must be accompanied by an adult guardian. At this time children under 8 will not be allowed in the cat lounge but are welcome to check out the rest of the space. No outside animals are allowed for the health and safety of our kitty lounge residents.

Outside of the lounge, the South Plains SPCA will be hosting an adoption event with even more adoptable kitties for you to meet while you are waiting for your turn to check out the lounge. They will also have information about the organization and how you can help animals in Lubbock. We will also have a few game activities for you to check out as well.

This event will allow us to test out a lot of our systems, the space and even how the kitties react to new people. We ask for everyone to be patient and understanding, if unexpected issues arise. Depending on what concerns or needed changes are determined for going forward, we will use that information to determine our full opening date and hours.

Thank you to all who have shown your support and enthusiasm for this endeavor. It has been a labor of love and presented us with many unique challenges. We hope to continue to improve to create an amazing experience for both the kitties in our care and our visitors.

When you're working hard on getting everything outside of the cat lounge set up and ready and then you realize you're being watched... 👀😸

Our first kitties at Critical Whiskers have enjoyed exploring the cat lounge and giving it a good test run. So we will be slowly adding a few more kitties at a time to get ready for visitors at our Open House on June 20th.

Do you spot our newest updates to the cat lounge?😸 Today was an exciting (and a little bit stressful) day at Critical Whiskers as we brought in a few beta testers to help us put the cat lounge through it's paces and help get us ready for open. We will do introductions once everyone gets settled in, but while there was some hissing and grumbles, it was an overall successful day and helped reminded us of a few more things we need to get.

It's looking like a kitty playground around here! Huge thank you to my family for helping construct and hang our cat shelves! More kitty (and human) furniture should be arriving early this coming week, and maybe even some kitties too!😻

Since it's the end of May and we haven't opened yet, it's probably past time for an update on when we expect that to happen. We'll make a full post with the event info this week, but for anyone checking in today, our Grand Opening Open House will be Saturday June 20th! We may have a preview/soft opening a little before that but rain or shine, finished or not, we will be open June 20th!😅

*I'm working on updating the website as quickly as I can with info about hours, lounge rules, etc. and I really thank everyone for being not only excited for us to open but also patient with me. Creating this has been a dream come true but also a lot of work, unexpected delays, and a learning process but I can't wait to share it with everyone. -Jennifer

For peace of mind and safety, we had to make sure we came up with a solution for the fact that our unit has a drop ceiling. Our first plan didn't pan out the way we wanted but our new plan is working great! Now we can put up cat shelves and tall cat trees along the wall and not worry!
