St. Benedict's Chapel St. Benedict's Chapel feeds Body and Soul 7 days a week. A hot meal, a smile, a kind word or support is always available to those who are in need. When St.

Benedict's Chapel is, above all, a church. Each Sunday a chaplain provides spiritual nourishment through prayer, communion, and fellowship. We provide free and voucher-less meals seven days a week, no questions asked. Our partners work faithfully to provide a safe and ecumenical atmosphere for the 80-130 guests served daily. Benedict's was first begun, the founder, Father Richard Barry and his wife were the only two individuals. They served cold sandwiches to each of the individuals who came to them. Here we are twelve years later and we are serving an average of 110+ hot meals per evening and on Sunday Mornings we have between 15 and 30 parishioners for our service, breakfast and fellowship. Benedict's has been there all these years and we will continue to serve our friends in need for as long as we are needed. We are supported solely through the volunteer efforts of 9 churches and one local business: Cast Iron Grill, First Christian Church, Monterey Church of Christ, Second Baptist Church, St. Paul's on the Plains Episcopal, First Baptist Church, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Spring Fellowship Church, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. These partners provide, prepare, and serve meals 365 days/year. We are funded by the donations from individuals and businesses in the surrounding area.

Thank you Raintree Christian Church members for making over 200 sack lunches for our friends. Once each year they set aside a Sunday for giving back to the Lubbock community. This is our second year to be a recipient of their gift of love. What a blessing!

Saint Benedict’s lost a dear friend this week. Ms. Barbara passed away in her home on Saturday. Ms. Barbara has been coming to St. Benedict’s for years. She was wheelchair bound but that did not slow her down. She was always smiling and so grateful for her meal. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. We love you Ms. Barbara!

What an amazing fun Street Taco Showdown!! Delicious food was enjoyed by over 200 people. A special thank you to our sponsors Two Docs, Market Street,Abuelo’s, and wonderful music by Theron Zuber and the Sigma Chi Fraternity actives and pledges who were amazing. We couldn’t have done it without these guys. Also thank you to all those who provided the teams who prepared fabulous fillings for the tacos.
Congratulations to our winners. First place went to Chile Relleno taco, 2nd place went to Ire of Fire taco, and 3rd place was Surf Turf taco. Thank you to our board members, volunteers, and the Lubbock community who supported our efforts to close the hunger gap in our community. Saint Benedict’s is extremely grateful for your dedication to our mission to feed the homeless and food insecure.
