To mark 10 years of ACE Learning, the NEASC Commission on International Education has published a new white paper, titled "Preparing Learners for a Complex World," that looks ahead to what the next decade of school transformation will ask every learning community to consider.

As the world changes, international schools must consider how to prepare students for the challenges ahead. The paper examines why learning needs to evolve and how NEASC’s Framework for High-Quality Learning and the 10 ACE Learning Principles can help schools rethink the purpose of learning.

NEASC Accredited and Candidate schools are invited to join us virtually on October 22, from 9:00–11:45 a.m. ET (US), for a Learning Lab introducing the NEASC Framework for High-Quality Learning.

Featuring a keynote presentation by Dr. Paul Freeman, superintendent of Guilford Public Schools in Connecticut, and breakout sessions, this live Learning Lab is interactive, therefore, space is limited.

The Framework brings together research and insights from NEASC staff and volunteers to encourage deeper thinking about what contributes to high-quality learning.

Schools will share stories about implementing the Framework and its impact, while NEASC staff will introduce tools and resources to help your school community develop a shared understanding of high-quality learning.

Today, more than 100 district leaders, school leaders, and educators from eight Connecticut school districts gathered in Bristol, CT, as part of the NEASC/CAPSS District Accreditation Cohort.

Developed in partnership with the CT Association of Public School Superintendents - CAPSS, the cohort brings districts together through a collaborative process of reflection, evaluation, and continuous improvement focused on strengthening learning and systemwide coherence.

At today’s meeting, each district’s steering committee had the opportunity to continue their accreditation work while learning from one another and sharing insights across diverse contexts.

What happens when students turn their research into action?

Students from TechBoston Academy in Boston will share that journey during Wednesday’s closing keynote at the 2026 NEASC Leadership Conference.

Their work began with a Youth Participatory Action Research project on gun violence and grew into Quality Homes for Humankind, a nonprofit supporting young people ages 18-26 with housing, workforce development, and pathways to employment.

On World Teachers’ Day, we recognize educators around the world and the vital role they play in shaping the future of education.

Today, teachers are navigating major transformations, from artificial intelligence and climate change to inclusion, migration, conflict and learner well-being. At the same time, many continue to face inadequate recognition, support and working conditions.

These challenges are contributing to a growing global teacher shortage.

While 107 million teachers are currently teaching worldwide, an additional 50 million will be needed by 2030 to ensure universal access to pre-primary, primary and secondary education.

That means that for every 2 teachers in the profession today, the world needs almost 1 more.

On World Teachers’ Day, UNESCO stands with teachers and calls for renewed action to strengthen their status, recruit more teachers and create the conditions they need to stay in the profession.

Because investing in teachers means investing in today’s learners and generations to come.

Introducing the NEASC International Education Learning Series, offering four webinars for international NEASC Candidate and Accredited schools and exploring timely topics in international education and school improvement.

The series begins September 28 with ACE Learning In Action: Early Years and Primary Classrooms. Educators from Alma Forest School in Spain and Nord Anglia International School in Ireland will share classroom stories, evidence, and reflections, bringing the 10 ACE Learning Principles to life through the experiences of their youngest learners.

What's ahead for NEASC this school year?

In his back-to-school message, NEASC CEO and President, Cameron Staples, puts high-quality learning at the center of what is shaping our work in 2026-2027.

AI is changing how students access information and support. How might it also change the role of the teacher?
