NEASC partners with K-12 schools around the world to assess, support, and promote high quality education for all students.

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) is an independent, voluntary, nonprofit membership organization which partners with over 1500 public, independent, and international schools in the US and worldwide to assess, support, and promote high quality education for all students through accreditation, professional assistance, and pursuit of best practices. NEASC aspires to provide

a process for meaningful, ongoing whole school improvement while honoring the unique culture and context of each institution we support. Founded in 1885, NEASC has a long tradition of school improvement across the six states of New England and in more than 85 countries around the world. Today NEASC focuses on the accreditation of schools spanning PK to Grade 12 and, as a deeply mission-driven organization, is guided by key priorities which include advancing equity, promoting innovation and excellence in education, and empowering students. NEASC is an advocate of educational quality and its ongoing improvement; it’s purposes are exclusively educational. It serves the public interest, the educational community, and the students within the educational system by:

- establishing and maintaining high standards of educational excellence
- providing a framework for institutional self-reflection and objective peer review
- serving as a resource and support for ongoing, meaningful whole-school improvement and growth.

Reina joins the NEASC Commission on Independent Schools as an Accreditation Leader, bringing extensive experience across independent schools. Most recently, she held several leadership roles at The Derryfield School in Manchester, New Hampshire.

NEASC is proud to celebrate nearly 100 years of accrediting boarding schools across New England and around the world.

For boarding students, school is more than a place to learn. It is also where they live, build relationships, and develop independence.

NEASC Accreditation encourages schools to consider how residential life creates a safe, inclusive community where students feel a sense of belonging in an environment where learning extends beyond the classroom and into everyday life.

The Director oversees our international team and nearly 500 international schools, as well as being a key figure in our NEASC-wide leadership team. This position is currently filled with an interim director and the position will transition to a permanent director in 2027.

NEASC is proud to participate in networks like the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) and the Vermont Principals Association (VPA) who share our mission of supporting public schools, their leaders, and their school communities across New England.

NEASC Associate Director Fran Kennedy attended both associations’ conferences this week, gaining valuable opportunities to learn from excellent presenters and connect with school leaders and NEASC volunteers.

At the CAS Annual School Leadership Conference, conversations centered on intentional leadership, strengthening school culture, and preparing school leaders for the year ahead, with keynote presentations from Tim Elmore and former U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, Ed. D.

The VPA Leadership Academy brought together new and experienced school leaders for professional learning, collaboration, and networking, while celebrating leadership across Vermont schools and welcoming the next generation of principals.

Thank you to both associations for bringing educators together to learn from one another.
