Supporting Sensory Regulation, Attention, and Behavior Across Environments: A Collaborative Approach

This presentation will provide educators with a practical, neurodiversity-affirming approach to supporting sensory regulation, attention, and behavior in the classroom. Participants will learn about Occupational Therapy, childhood occupations, and the eight sensory systems, with a focus on how sensory processing impacts learning, participation, and behavior.

Through an occupational therapy lens, we will explore ways to recognize dysregulation and use co-regulation and sensory-based strategies to support students’ attention, engagement, and participation. Practical strategies for individual students and whole-classroom environments will be shared, providing educators with actionable tools to promote regulation, inclusion, and successful participation for all learners. Applicable to all ages, best suited to elementary and middle schoolers.
