At Woodz Academy, we’re bringing years of experience developing players at the youth, collegiate, and professional levels to girls in grades 3–6.

But here’s what matters more than the résumés.

Some programs recruit talent.

Others know how to build it.

There’s a difference.

Everybody wants the finished product. The rankings. The offers. The recognition. The player who can change a game.

But what about the work that happens before anybody knows her name?

Who can identify what she does well before it becomes obvious? Who knows what parts of her game will translate as the competition gets better? Who can challenge her without losing sight of the player she’s becoming?

That’s where development separates itself from opportunity.

We’re not interested in collecting talent just to say we have it. We’re building players who can compete at the highest levels, understand their value, and keep growing when the game demands more.

That’s the difference. 🌲

More basketball isn’t always better basketball.

At Woodz Academy, we’re intentional about what players learn, how they learn it, and whether they can actually apply it when the game starts.

Every week, our girls work on skill development, decision-making, and understanding the game. Every other Sunday, they get the opportunity to compete, make mistakes, receive feedback, and put those lessons to work.

The goal isn’t to collect drills or chase weekend trophies.

It’s to build players who know what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, and how to adjust when the game demands something different.

Development isn’t accidental. The environment matters.

Proud of what we built. Serious about what comes next.

Last season gave us experience we’re putting to work. Fresh from the adidas Directors’ Meetings, we’re bringing a clearer purpose to how our players develop, prepare, and compete.

NWA Academy begins Tuesday. WoodzWork starts in November. Jr. 3SSB teams are coming. And the 2027 high school circuit stops are set.

The high school years get the attention.

But the player is being built long before then.

Woodz Academy gives girls in grades 3–6 a place to learn the game, compete, develop confidence and start building the habits they’ll need for what comes next.

Tuesday and Thursday practices.

Getting to the right stage is one thing. Looking like you belong there is the work.

When a player struggles to get past her defender, “be quicker” doesn’t give her much to work with. Does she need to recognize when to attack? Get stronger so contact doesn’t knock her off her path? Learn to stop and change direction without losing her balance?

Our basketball and performance coaches work together to find what’s holding her back and build what she needs. Then she plays again. The next possession tells us whether we’ve done our job.

Getting her seen comes with the stage. Giving them a reason to keep watching takes work.

And we take the work personally.
