The ladies had an amazing time serving at the 2026 NWA Juneteenth Celebration! 💙🤍❤️

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865—the day enslaved African Americans in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, marking a powerful moment in our nation’s history.

We also honor Soror Opal Lee, known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” whose tireless advocacy helped make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday in 2021. Her dedication to justice and education continues to inspire generations.

Serving on this historic day is a reminder of how far we’ve come and the work that still lies ahead.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated honors Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, as an historic moment in American history. On June 19, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached the last enslaved individuals in Galveston, Texas, marking the true beginning of freedom for all.

We proudly recognize the efforts of our own trailblazing Soror, Opal Lee, the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” whose unwavering advocacy helped make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday in 2021.

Today, we celebrate emancipation, reflect on our ancestors’ strength and resilience, and recommit to the work of advancing justice, equity, and unity. Through education, action, and solidarity, we move closer to a world rooted in true freedom for all.
