Our Club members had the amazing opportunity to attend the Iraq vs. Norway FIFA World Cup soccer match, thanks to the support of Governor Maura Healey and the MA Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs!

Experiences like these open doors, create lasting memories, and show our youth how sports can unite people from all walks of life. Thank you for making this special night possible! ๐Ÿ’™

Itโ€™s here! Our new bin from Bootstrap Compost has officially arrived, and our food waste reduction program is underway!

The Torch Club was tasked with finding creative ways to cut down on non-renewable resources. Because of their hard work, in just the first two weeks of operation, several hundred pounds of food waste - that would have ended up in a landfill - will now be composted instead.

Way to go, Torch Club, for finding a brilliant way to improve both our Club and our community!

Pride Month at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell stands for belonging. It reinforces the message that every young person who walks through those doors is worthy of care, respect, and a community that celebrates exactly who they are.

Lowell and Cork have a beautiful, long-standing connection, stretching from the Irish immigrants who helped build our city's canals 200 years ago, to our official partnership through the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.

Because of this deep history, we were incredibly honored to welcome Lord Mayor of Cork, Ireland, Fergal Dennehy, along with Denis Barrett (Corkโ€™s Learning Cities Coordinator) to Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell!

As the first UNESCO Learning City designated in the United States, Lowell is leading the nation in building a culture of lifelong learning, and we love exchanging ideas with our sister learning cities across the globe.

During their tour, the Lord Mayor spent time learning about our programs, meeting our amazing staff, and seeing firsthand how our Club empowers the youth of Greater Lowell every single day. Lifelong learning and community support are values that cross oceans, and we are so proud to share that mission with our friends in Cork.

Thank you, Lord Mayor Dennehy, for stopping by, inspiring our Club, and strengthening the bonds between our two great communities!

Ready, Set, Draw! Our Club members took on a Collaborative Timed Drawing Challenge, working together on shared masterpieces as they raced against the clock to add their own artistic touch before passing the canvas to the next artist. Guided by Makerspace staff member Cierra, there was no overthinking allowed! Just pure fun, creativity, and artistic chaos in the best possible way. ๐Ÿ’™

The bright young minds in our Education Comes First program have officially crossed a massive milestone: over 2,000 books read since January! Our members are now averaging 48 books per child, up from just 21 books only 9 months ago!

60% of parents/guardians report that their kids truly enjoy reading now.
40% have seen a noticeable boost in reading skills.
A whopping 80% of families report their child's math skills have improved, too! How? We partner with Khan Academy, a fantastic, free online platform filled with fun, interactive math games and personalized lessons that let kids learn at their own pace.

Huge shoutout to our dedicated members, supportive families, and rockstar team consisting of Christopher Maloney, Academic Success Manager, and Alix, for making magic happen every single day.

There have been a lot of big and small physical changes happening at the Club over the past year, from our new kitchen to the incredible Teen Center. But sometimes, itโ€™s the quieter additions that make the biggest impact.

With the addition of an elevator, our building is now fully connected.
While it definitely solves the challenge of moving deliveries and supplies between floors, its real value is much deeper. This addition means greater accessibility, independence, and inclusivity for everyone who comes through our doors.

Sometimes the smallest changes turn out to be the biggest ones.
