Citywide baseball/softball meeting
Monday 1/15 - 6:30PM
at Long Meadow Country Club

Hi all,

I want to extend an invitation to all of you to attend our upcoming meeting regarding citywide baseball and softball. We have played an integrated schedule for most levels for a few years (and much longer for senior league and softball) and formally combined as one organization for last year. We want input on how to take the next steps.

When registering last year you were required to pick a "park" or area in which to play. We are looking to combine our player pool in some way and want input from our coaches and parents. All ideas and suggestions are welcome. Our board, and a number of our coaches, have met and we have come up with this basic framework or options.

For a basic recap our baseball divisions are:

Tball (4-5 yr olds)
Instructional (5-6 yr olds
Rookie (7/8 yr olds)
Minor (9/10 yr olds)
Major (11/12 yr olds)
Senior (13/16 yr olds)

Softball:
8U
10U
12U
16U

Here are the options to consider:

#1 - Full citywide player pool at every level. T-ball and Instructional would likely be played at a central location similar to how Soccer functions.

#2 - Integration starting at the 7/8 level. This level (and all levels above) are currently playing at parks across the city. The change would be that the player pool is integrated. Softball can follow suit with 8U

#3 - Integration starting at the 9/10 level. 7/8 and below would still have segregated player pool. Softball equivalent is 10U.

#4 - Integration starting at 11/12 level. 9/10 and below would still have segregated player pool. Softball equivalent is 12U

Softball and baseball don't have to be decided together, but certainly can follow the same philosophy.

Our overall mission is to have as many kids play for as long as possible and have fun at each level. We have had great success and want to keep that momentum going forward.

We are also are looking to expand our board. We always need experienced coaches but also need people to help with fundraising, social media, uniform and equipment, concessions, etc. If you are interested please attend and chat with a board member.

UPDATE! Due to the weather, the game is moved up to 12:00pm and there is only one game.
The UMASS Lowell Softball Team has invited us to be their guests at Saturday's game! They will meet us and sign autographs following the game! Hope to see you all there! Riverview Field 883 Broadway St

Reminder Sunday April 16th we will be having our park clean up day!!!
And our first snack shack donations drop off!!

We hope as a community we can come out and clean up these areas for the kids and their families!
