Kids Run added to the St. Matthews Independence Day 5k

Introducing the Little Patriot Fun Runs, sponsored by Goldfish Swim School, just for the 9 and under crowd!

Distances: 6 and Under: 1776 inches (49 yards); ages 7-9 250 feet (84 yards)
Date: July 3rd
Time: promptly at 4pm to open the Freedom Fest street festival (which runs 4-9pm)
Where: Independence Bank, 3901 Shelbyville Rd.
Cost: $10

Today is National Rescue Dog Day! Did you know we have three races that benefit rescues? Animal Care Society (Bark in the Park 5k), Friends of Metro Animal Services Louisville (Pupkin Spice 5k) and Pet Friendly Services of IN (Fix 'Em 5k).

All our rescues on the day they were adopted (except Reese, couldn't find her puppy picture) left to right. Ike, Booker, Roscoe, , Baker, Oscar, Wiley, Mike, Reese and Tilly.

NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY is proudly observed annually on MAY 20 to bring awareness to the countless number of amazing dogs in shelters around the country who deserve a second chance at a forever home.

Rescue dogs are truly remarkable! They overcome extreme obstacles and are incredibly resilient. They make wonderful family pets and a child’s best friend. But, rescue dogs are capable of much more. With training, they contribute to the independence of people with disabilities and give comfort to the elderly. As emotional support companions, rescue dogs help to relieve anxiety, depression, and even PTSD. The possibilities are endless, but most of all, they are love in the purest form and it is hard to imagine a more loyal, worthy companion.
