We are excited to announce the launch of our new volunteering app! You can find it at:

For many years, the team at the Fluvanna Louisa Housing Foundation (FLHF) has relied on volunteers to use their talents to serve our neighbors. Recently, we partnered with gogood.app to implement a modern management tool that fully harnesses our collective efforts.

One of the biggest challenges our community faces today is housing. Simply put, our vision is to ensure that everyone has a Warm, Safe, Dry, and Affordable place to live.

We welcome all types of volunteers! While we appreciate those with construction skills, we also need volunteers for administrative tasks such as fundraising and grant writing. Remember, if you can't swing a hammer or climb a ladder, there are still many ways to contribute!

Big news! AWS just donated $50,000 to support native landscaping at our Louisa County affordable housing development! This gift helps us bring drought resistant, pollinator friendly plants to the community — creating beautiful, low maintenance green spaces for future residents. You may have noticed a familiar face when we did the FB Live feed on Tuesday and wondered what Lloyd Runnett was doing on the scene. Mr. Runnett has graciously agreed to assist FLHF with our Construction Management while our Operations Manager has been out. His many talents and willingness to jump in wherever he is needed has been a relief for our busy organization! As former LCRC Executive Director, Lloyd worked closely with FLHF Executive Director, Kim Hyland, in collaborating to meet the needs of the community. We are even stronger working together. Thanks for jumping in, Lloyd. It’s been great having you around again. Our work is never done.

Thanks for the support from our community. We appreciate the skills and involvement of so many citizens. Many thanks to our dedicated Board of Directors who have led this effort.

Louisa County has just taken a “big step forward” in supplying affordable housing to the community, according to Kim Hyland, the Executive Director of the Fluvanna-Louisa Housing Foundation (FLHF). On June 9 and June 11, FLHF held tours for local leaders involved in the project to check out the finished construction of four one-bedroom units before they are occupied later this month.

In August 2023, the Louisa County Board of Supervisors (BoS) unanimously approved an affordable housing application from FLHF to rezone the eight-acre site adjacent to the Louisa County Resource Council (LCRC) from industrial to residential to allow for the use of multifamily dwellings, a total of 25 housing units.

The 25 housing units include 16 one-floor, handicap-accessible senior living units available for individuals making under 60% of the county’s average median income, equating to roughly $36,000. The units are intended for residents aged 62 years or older or handicapped individuals.

FLHF wrapped up a busy week presenting to the Louisa Board of Supervisors, the Fluvanna Board of Supervisors, and the FLHF Board of Directors meeting with a generous donation. Many thanks from FLHF for the local VFW’s commitment to assisting local residents!

Press Release from VFW 8947: “Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8947 in Mineral made a charitable contribution in excess of $3300 to The Fluvanna-Louisa Housing Foundation. Funds will be focused into meeting the housing needs for the families in our communities."
