The World Cup showed what happens without adequate pollution-prevention planning: Tons of waste that could have been prevented is generated, leaving millions of pieces of trash to litter communities and burden landfills.

Requiring Olympic stakeholders to invest in reusable dishware would meaningfully reduce future pollution and give future mega-event organizers a sustainable model to follow.

We're excited to report that AB 762 banning disposable ni****ne vapes was signed into law today!

We applaud Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and Governor Gavin Newsom for their leadership and are thankful that California will continue to be a leader in waste reduction by prohibiting this unnecessary and harmful product.

It is against common sense to produce an electronic device – with all of its associated circuitry, resource use and environmental hazards – just to toss it once it runs out of juice and compound our e-waste crisis. Getting rid of disposable ni****ne vapes is the right move for our state.

Good news! A new law went into effect on July 1 in California that will make it easier to know when our food has gone bad. AB 660 by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin requires uniform food date labeling. This new law will end consumer confusion, reduce food waste, and ease the environmental impact of so much food ending up in landfills.

Californians deserve access to fresh, toxin-free produce.

PFAS – toxic “forever” chemicals banned from makeup, clothing, and firefighting gear – are now being used in pesticides. Traces of PFAS have been found in almost 40% of non-organic Californian-grown produce, with especially high levels in peaches, plums, strawberries, and grapes.
