This morning Pope Leo underwent surgery to remove a "small nodule" located in his lung. Following the surgery the Vatican has notified all faithful that the nodule was cancerous but Pope Leo was recovering.

The Pontifical Mission Societies - Los Angeles team joins all LA Catholics and other faithful around the world in praying for his health to be restored.

Together let's pray:

Lord Jesus, Divine Physician, we kneel before you. Because your love is all-powerful, we ask you to stretch forth your healing hand upon Pope Leo. Strengthen him to accept this cross of suffering, and if it be your will, grant him a miraculous healing, that your mercy may be made known.
Amen.

For 100 years, Catholics around the world have come together on World Mission Sunday to pray for missionaries and support the young and growing Churches they serve.

This year, Pope Leo XIV is inviting us to carry that legacy forward.

In a new video for the 100th anniversary of World Mission Sunday, the Holy Father reflects on his own connection to this extraordinary day—from celebrating during his youth in the United States to experiencing the prayers and generosity of Catholics around the world during his missionary ministry in Peru.

And what a difference a century has made.

In 1925, mission territories included 296 jurisdictions and about 9.6 million Catholics. Today there are 1,131 mission territories serving more than 346 million Catholics through more than 41,000 parishes. They are also home to 124,309 Catholic schools and 26,318 social institutions.

Behind those numbers are generations of Catholics who prayed, sacrificed and gave—often for brothers and sisters they would never meet.

Now it is our turn.

Watch Pope Leo XIV's message and join Catholics everywhere on October 18 as we celebrate 100 years of World Mission Sunday.

One in Christ, united in mission.

Today we honor Our Lady of the Rosary. On her Feast Day we ask that you pray the World Mission Rosary. Let's ask for her intercession for our brothers and sisters around the world.

Prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary:

O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary,
in these times of such brazen impiety,
manifest your power with the signs
of your ancient victories.
Obtain for me, the least of men,
kneeling before you in supplication,
the grace I need to live righteously upon earth,
in order to be numbered among the just in heaven.
In the company of all faithful Christians
throughout the world,
I salute you and acclaim you
as Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.
Queen of the Most Holy Rosary,
pray for us.

Your commitment to teaching students the World Mission Rosary and encouraging them to be Missionary Disciples makes us proud and excited!

Be sure to join us at the last two Regional Congresses: OLA and Santa Barbara!

Congratulations to our raffle winners from St. Emydius Parish (Lynwood) and Holy Family (Wilmington).

For all who joined our workshops and stopped by our booth or our sacred space in honor of Blessed Archbishop Sheen - we hope our resources helped you get closer to the Missions and World Mission Rosary.

Congratulations to all raffle winners!

Tomorrow, we can’t wait to see all participants of the San Pedro Regional Congress!
