Nine members of ALERT participated in and completed a Wilderness First Aid class held at the Londonderry Fire Department. The class focuses on first aid care in wilderness scenarios where emergency response may be significantly delayed, ultimately bolstering their search and rescue operations.

This week has been busy for the team. We responded to support LFD on a very hot day at a business fire. Then, eighteen members fulfilled Concerts on the Common duty on Wednesday, while eleven ALERT members managed traffic control and disability parking at the substantial track meet at Londonderry High School on Saturday.

At 09:40 this morning Londonderry Fire Communications Center (TCO’s Loomis & Farr) received Radio Box 110 for a fire alarm activation at 11 Industrial Dr. Members of Battalion 1 staffing Engine 1 (Lt/P B.Schofield, FF St Jean & FF/P Boshar) Ladder 2 (Lt/P Northrop, FF/P Jerome & FF DeCarli) Engine 2 (Lt/P Barnett, FF Patten & FF Fowler) & BC-1 (BC Mague) were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

While companies were responding a 2nd activation rang in from the box and a phone call from the facility reporting a fire in the building. BC Mague requested the assignment be filled bringing Ambulance 1 (FF Proulx & FF Covel) Paramedic 1 (FF/P Hinds) Rescue 1 (BC Hallowell & Lt/P C.Schofield) a Bedford Engine, Derry Medic & Manchester Truck to the scene as well as C-1 (Chief Young)

Engine 1 then reported a large column of smoke visible from the airport and the “Working Fire” was transmitted bringing engines from Merrimack & Derry.

Shortly after arriving the 2nd alarm was transmitted bringing Windham, Salem & Hudson to the scene.

Crews deployed hoselines and began opening the roof in the area of the fire. The fire was found to be burning between layers of the roof proving to be very labor intensive and the 3rd alarm was transmitted bringing Litchfield, Goffstown, Pelham & Nashua to the scene.

K-1 (DC Johnson) also responded to the scene for investigation & the CERT team for Rehab.

Lt. DeVoe responded as a pilot on the Salem Engine with FF Chartrand doing the same on the Hudson Engine.

The main body of the fire was knocked down quickly but crews remained heavily engaged chasing hot spots and conducting overhaul operations.

Thank you to our mutual aid who assisted at the scene and to our callback personnel as well as Allenstown (1) Chester (2) & Hampstead (C) for providing coverage while companies were committed.

We have assisted supporting LFD in responding to two major fires over the last week. Given the timing of each event, and not to disrupt our team members who are working, a small contingent of our retired personnel were activated for both incidents. At the Justin Circle fire, Remi Fortin and Al Sypek offered snacks and beverages to responders. Remi Fortin and Brian Southmayd ensured responders' hydration and energy needs were met at the Gerry Lane fire. Good job team!
