🌟 Student Spotlight: Lachlan V. ’27

Making an impact on Long Island and sharing it on a national stage! 💙

Lachlan was recently featured on CNN’s One World to discuss the Kids Food Independence Program (KFIP), a program of NOSH Delivers that Lachlan founded to help address childhood food insecurity during weekends, school breaks, and summer.

What began with Lachlan recognizing a need in his own community has grown into an incredible youth-led effort. In 2025 alone, KFIP provided more than 40,000 meal bags, and the program continues to bring young people, schools, and local organizations together to make a difference.

As Lachlan shared during his interview, no matter your age or background, you can create meaningful change in your community.

We’re proud to see Lachlan putting purpose into action and inspiring others to do the same. 👏💙

Congratulations to Stephanie, who has been selected for the prestigious New York All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble! 🎶💙

This December, Stephanie will travel to Rochester to perform alongside some of the most talented student vocal jazz musicians from across New York State.

An incredible accomplishment for Stephanie and a proud moment for the Portledge Performing Arts community. Congratulations, Stephanie! 💙🐾

Alumni Spotlight: Zeyu Chen ’16🌟

Congratulations to Zeyu, whose paper, “What Makes a Job Stay Around? Occupational Identity of AI-related Jobs,” received a Best Paper designation at the 2026 Academy of Management Annual Meeting!

Using AI to analyze U.S. job postings, Zeyu’s research explores why some emerging AI-related occupations endure while others fade, offering timely insights into how AI is reshaping the future of work.

At Portledge, the Performing Arts are more than a performance; they’re an opportunity for students to find their voice, build confidence, take creative risks, and discover what inspires them.
From the classroom to the stage, students are encouraged to explore their talents and express themselves in a community that celebrates creativity in all its forms. This is the Performing Arts experience at Portledge.

At Portledge, community is an extension of the classroom. Through our Community Partnership Experience (CPE), students connect academic learning with purposeful, real-world experiences that strengthen our community while building character.

This year, we’re excited to expand that impact through a new partnership with Ronald McDonald House, where seniors will prepare and distribute Grab & Go Meals for families and lend a hand in other meaningful ways.
