Let’s do some food & kindness math with 3rd grade spirit!

Take 1 School, Rushmore Avenue Elementary in Carle Place + their whole 3rd grade with 5 classrooms + 5 teachers + 1 huge snack food drive + decorating & filling !!!!!479!!!!! snack bags for NOSH Delivers KFIP ( Kids Food Independence Program) + 1 Carle Place District wide Day of Service on Tuesday May 26th when the importance of Service was put into big time action!

💯% Outstanding kindness and service dedicated to the NOSH children who need breakfast and lunch on the weekends when school is closed but also need snacks!

So, big bonus points added and awarded to the 3rd grade math tally for picking a special project that brightened 479 kid’s days this week by receiving a snack that they don’t always have access to.

We cannot thank wonderful 3rd grade teacher Kasey Gange enough for reaching out to NOSH KFIP to partner on this big day! She organized the whole process from snack drive to decorating and stuffing so beautifully.

NOSH got to meet her class! They are so kind and confident in their commitment to helping others. And as you can see from the photos, they are fun too!

Decorate & stuff lunch and breakfast bags. We meet weekly on Wednesdays at our NOSH YOUTH KFIP open house for and with local kids to close the food gap! We pack lunch & breakfast to send food insecurity packing!

All ages 6 to 18 +’Service Hours
(10 years and younger must be accompanied by parent)
FREE to all kids in our community Bring friends!

STRICT RULES
All youth under 10 years and under must be accompanied by parent

No playing or running in the NOSH/VFW parking lot. Families, please exit car and go immediately into the building. Please park in lot parallel to NOSH ramp entrance with big green NOSH sign. DO NOT park in back. Safety first. Thanks!

KFIP NOTE
When it comes to doing good, NOSH is unstoppable because KFIP is a chip off the NOSH block sending 40,000 KFIP Breakfast and lunch bags out yearly that have been decorated, stuffed and picked up in what we think may be the most exciting youth run nonprofit program ever!

Your seat at the table just opened up!

NOSH KFIP (Kids Food Independence Program) is launching its first-ever youth internship — the Leadership Lab — and we're looking for students in grades ( rising) 6-12 grades who want to do more than volunteer.

This is behind-the-scenes nonprofit work. Real stuff.

You'll join one of three teams — Finance, Marketing & Outreach, or Operations — and help run the program that puts 1,200+ meal bags into kids' hands every week during the 182 days school is out.

Depending on your chosen team, you'll plan budgets, run social media campaigns, coordinate volunteers, prep school kits, or track supplies.

Every Monday, you'll leave knowing you moved something forward.

• Mondays. 5:30-7:30 PM. Starting June 1st.

(June 1st is a one hour orientation from 5:30’to 6:30 pm. Next week Schedule continues all year round at scheduled time 5:30 - 7:30 pm)

The 4th Annual Glen Cove Kiwanis Wheelchair Basketball Tournament at Glen Cove High School was the most exciting event NOSH food drives has ever done! And the best NOSH youth volunteers ever- Khloe & Camari!

The minute The NY Rolling Fury rolled onto the parquet, the stands hushed and then exploded into cheers! The NBA has nothing on them! They are the Tri-State’s region’s foremost Wheelchair Basketball Organization, based in Queens and Brooklyn.

This team leads the country in the massive popularity of Adaptive Sports. And they took on 3 Glen Cove Teams; Team Glen Cove PBA (Police Benevolent Association), Team GCHS Knights; Teachers, Admin, Facilities and Coach/Principle Mr. Hudson!

And the final tournament game featured Fury vs. GCHS Students repping the DECA and Key Club clubs. It was all unbelievably inspirational! Every single team, every single player, every single play! Every single basket! The sportsmanship was next level, actually stratospheric level stuff!

NOSH was humbled to be included on the busy sidelines of this Tournament; a testament to the spirit of inclusion. Thank you to everyone who donated food to take care of the 750 families we serve weekly.

Our gratitude and admiration to the officers of Glen Cove Kiwanis Club and President, Ann Marie Gailius who has made hands on support of NOSH something to be hailed. They and North Shore Kiwanis have been there for NOSH for the 6 years we have been in existence. And 1st home was at GCHS in 2020!

And now for the next generation! GCHS Key Club has followed tradition hosting an all GC School District NOSH KFIP Awareness Week decorating breakfast and lunch bags for local kids. Thank you; Mrs. Brosnan, Key Club Advisor for organizing that with KFIP Youth Ambassadors. And it was great to catch up with Kirsten Kenney, Finley Builders Club Advisor, our longtime friend, teacher and Kiwanis member.

Hey look at this! There’s nothing like NOSH prep for a holiday weekend! Our volunteers go all out to make sure our 750 NOSH families have what they need this 🇺🇸Memorial Day🇺🇸 weekend! We were so grateful to have 6 Friends Academy students kicking off their 3 week Senior Internship Program with us this past Monday! They got A+’s from Linda, our Director of Operations and all the NOSH Day Managers and Volunteers! As you can see from our home delivery set up in the parking lot—there was a huge amount on our Memorial Day weekend to-do list. Wishing all a lovely weekend and Monday off honoring the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. See our previous thank you post to VFW Post 347 who lets us share their home base!
