Happy Filipino American History Month! 🇵🇭

Did you know the first permanent Asian community in the U.S. began with a Filipino fishing village in Louisiana?

Just miles from New Orleans, Filipino sailors settled in St. Malo and built a community around fishing and sh*****ng. But much of what we know about St. Malo comes from outsider accounts.

Curious to learn more? Join our free virtual workshop, Rediscovering St. Malo, for a deeper look at this little-known chapter of Filipino American history through poetry, historical accounts, and more.

UPDATE! We’re extending our Supply & Donation Drive for immigrant families through Thursday, October 15, and we’ve also updated our list of requested items ➡️

Donations will go to the Mutual Aid Collective of New Jersey and Eyes on ICE of NJ hospitality tents at Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark. Halloween costume donations will go to Estamos Unidos’ Halloween Free Market. Winter coats and clothing will go to Mutual Aid Collective’s Free Market for Families.
