Are we measuring girls’ sports experiences by the right things? 👀 Winning and scoring matter, but so do having fun, improving, and connecting with teammates.

In fact, 83% of girls say having fun is more important than winning. New Girl Scout research reveals what girls really want from sports and physical activity, what can push them away, and what helps keep them moving. https://link.girlscouts.org/4h9O9w4

A life WELL LIVED....

Christene Long provided so much MORE to so many through scouting.

Girls are more courageous. Leaders are more defined. Troops are more successful. Pocahontas Service Unit is more equipped.

We are forever thankful for Christene's selfless service and loving dedication to scouting.

It is with heavy hearts that Girl Scouts – Diamonds shares the passing of Christene Franklin Long, a beloved member of our Girl Scout family for 45 years.

Christene served as a volunteer, trainer, and Service Unit Director. She dedicated decades of her life to building up the girls and volunteers around her. She was recently honored as our Volunteer of the Year, a recognition that only begins to capture the impact she had on this council and the countless lives she touched along the way.

Forty-five years of showing up. Of training leaders. Of making sure girls had someone in their corner. That is a legacy that does not fade.

Our hearts are with Christene's family, her troop families, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
