The Salvation Army, led by Majors Kenney and Julie Igleheart, is a Bible-based ministry dedicated to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ while meeting practical needs in the community. Their mission is to provide essential support—food to eat, a place to stay, and opportunities for meaningful work.
They serve individuals experiencing homelessness, many of whom face significant challenges such as mental illness, financial hardship, or displacement from their homes. While some individuals may struggle with structure or rules, the overarching goal is to help people transition off the streets and into stable, permanent housing—especially those who are ready to work, improve their circumstances, and follow program guidelines.
The Salvation Army works to remove barriers that prevent people from securing housing and stability. Their services include a central office, housing support for single women and families, and daily necessities such as breakfast seven days a week and lunch five days a week through their stew pantry. They also operate a food pantry and host seasonal programs, including a Christmas assistance program.
Their work reflects the message of Matthew 25:34–36, serving others with compassion, dignity, and faith.
