I wasn’t ready for it.

I woke up this morning to a text message of a photo of me and Matthew from 8 years ago. Eight.years.ago.

The second photo is me and Matthew, yesterday.

Matthew and I had several short conversations yesterday. He is 19 now, in an independent living program and said he’s miserable and bored. Matthew wants a family.

As he was leaving Razorback Rally yesterday, I told him that I was going to ramp up my bold prayers for a family for him. He nodded and smiled, but the look in his eyes said ‘Mrs. Christie, I’ve heard that before, and look where I am.’

There are complexities and struggles in Matthew’s story, no doubt. Living years with the system as a parent does not make assimilating into a family easy. But does the ‘hard’ give us license to do nothing? Absolutely not!!

Please pray. Please share. Let’s get Matthew HOME.

The weather was perfect.
The venue was amazing.
The food was delicious.

I was hugged, repeatedly.
I was kissed on the cheek.
I was told I was someone’s favorite woman in the world.
I was called a cheer coach, again.
It was a beautiful event.

And yet, I drove home in silence; stoic, introspective, heavy, my mind focused on the 160 kids/teens who are counting on me, on us, to find them a family.

Let that sink in.

In all the noise, in all the chaos and all the causes in our country and world, we should be taken aback that there are kids and teens who are solely focused on whether or not they will ever find a family, whether they will ever be free from the stigma and constraints of being raised in and by a system.

Please join us in praying for incredible miracles, for supernatural connections, for unexpected opportunities to share our mission, and for outside the box vision that will get kids home. Nothing less will do.

It’s a BEAUTIFUL day in Little Rock and the perfect weather for our annual Razorback Rally! I’m headed to the stadium and made a quick stop at Target to pick up some footballs.

The young man that brought my order to the car said ‘ma’am if you don’t mind me asking, what are all the footballs for?’

I told him about the event we are hosting today and why and that our footballs were flat and not in great shape so we needed some new ones! He looked like a football player so I asked if he played and he said he did. He told me good luck today and moved on to the next car, then turned and came back to ask how long our event lasted. He said ‘oh man, I was hoping I could volunteer and get some service hours in’.

I gave him my card and said I’d be happy to connect him in the future to the person that handles volunteers.❤️

You just never know what God will use to raise awareness about waiting kids; a cheap football plus an inquisitive teenager with a big heart….might change a future!
