Today’s ride was certainly a special one! It was not our regular riding night but we rode to celebrate one of our Legion Riders 80th birthday. Marge has had a pretty rough year and has fought through a whole lot of ups and downs. What she wanted for her birthday was to get back on a motorcycle and take a ride with the group that she use to ride with on Tuesday evenings. Nine bikes, 11 Legion Riders and 2 family members of Marge’s were able to accommodate her and joined in on a 108 mile trip. She did great and enjoyed it to the fullest. It made the rest of us just as happy to see her on the back of that bike. Pretty sure we will see her do this again! Thank you Tim for a fabulous route and thank you Denny, Melissa and Craig for being Marge’s rock!

Our Tuesday ride was prefect weather for a 70 mile ride to get some good food and spend time with a great group! Nine bikes with 12 Legion Riders went for a spin to 2 Talls in Lincoln. Watching the robot bring our food out was a highlight to watch. It is getting dark way too early. Our rides are getting shorter. Thanks again, Tim for leading another fabulous ride!

Today was busy at Camp Ripley for the Gold Star Family weekend. Some of the Little Falls Legion Riders were able to participate. The mother of fallen soldier Tyrone Woods was able to get a ride from the Brainerd Legion Post Commander from the cemetery to the hangar. It is something that she really wanted to have happen and they were able to fulfill that wish.

Friday was a day for some of the Little Falls Legion Riders to take a nice ride to be part of the recognition of Cheryl Craft Bennett, the mother that lost her son, Tyrone Woods. He lost his life in the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack. It was a brunch put on at the Randall VFW and an opportunity to hear Cheryl speak. Following the brunch was the chance to welcome some of the Gold Star families that were coming for the weekend to Camp Ripley. It is a reminder of the sacrifices that many of our friends and families have endured.

Great 82 mile ride today to Crow Wing County Fair. We got to enjoy food and animals and visit with people we haven’t seen lately. We headed back to the Legion for burger night and to meet up with some of the other riders. However, Cowboy Tim topped the whole trip off taking on the bull! Can’t say we don’t know how to have fun!

ALR’s spent 3 days on a memorial ride in honor of Don Rodewald to New Ulm, his hometown. We rode approximately 380 miles in very warm weather and some annoying rain on our way back but it did not put a damper on our time together. There were 10 bikes and 15 people. Some of the Rodewald family was able to join us once we were in New Ulm. We didn’t miss out on much! We were able to spend time in a very interesting cemetery with some of the most unique headstones, visited Schells Brewery, ate some great food, visited the Stations of the cross and enjoyed New Ulm’s Night Out to name a few. The Narrens were there with the Schells Hobo band as the entertainment. We wore our shirts honoring the memory of Don and it is quite apparent by the amount of people that came up to us and let us know that they knew him in some way or another that he was very well like and respected. Don definitely made an impact on New Ulm and we are pleased to be a part of his on going memorial tribute.

Today was a perfect day for the 12th Annual Motorcycle and Classic Car Run for the Disabled American Veterans. We logged 95 miles with approximately 40 riders/passengers and ended up with a live auction at Post 46 Legion along with a tasty meal!
