🌞 Introducing Our Picnic Pals Community Partner Spotlight Series 🌞

As we reflect on this year’s Picnic Pals program, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible community that came together to support local children and families.

Picnic Pals helps provide families with additional food support during the summer, when children are away from the school meals they may rely on throughout the year. This program is made possible through the generosity of local businesses, foundations, organizations, churches, volunteers, and community members who believe in caring for their neighbors.

Over the coming weeks, Oasis Central Minnesota will be recognizing the wonderful partners who helped make Picnic Pals possible. We will highlight the organizations that donated funds to support the program, along with the local churches whose partnership helped bring this community effort to life.

Our funding sponsors include I.C.E. Fest - Pay It Forward Foundation, Exchange Club, Sprout, Second Harvest Heartland, Initiative Foundation, Enterprise CP, and Coborn’s Little Falls.

Our local church partners include St. Paul Lutheran Church, Community Covenant Church, St. John’s Catholic Church, First United Church, First Lutheran Church, Bethel Lutheran Church, Randall Presbyterian Church, Gethsemane Church, and Grace Covenant Church.

Every contribution and every partnership mattered. Together, these community partners helped Oasis continue Picnic Pals and provide meaningful support to families during the summer months.

As the seasons change, so do the needs of our community.

Summer often brings a shift in what homelessness looks like. While warmer weather can offer some relief, it does not mean the need goes away. In fact, as summer approaches, community members may begin to notice:

- More people are staying outdoors
- Increased visibility of tents and campers
- Individuals spending more time on the streets or in public spaces

These changes are often a reflection of limited housing options, not choices, and they highlight the continued need for safe shelter, housing support, and compassionate community response.

Our team stays busy year-round, working alongside individuals and families to connect them with temporary shelter, housing resources, and supportive services as they work toward stability.

Homelessness doesn’t take a summer break, and neither do we. Thank you for continuing to support our neighbors and this work in Morrison County.

Cooking for Our Neighbors (replacement of the former Share-a-Meal) provides food to hungry families. Oasis Central Minnesota, Sprout, Purple Carrot Market support this collaborative effort that provides an opportunity to serve people who are experiencing food insecurity in our local area. Community groups come together to prepare nutritious meals, which are then frozen and made available to families in need. The goal is 150 meals per month.

We believe everyone deserves a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, and basic necessities.

To help support our local homeless shelter, we’ve created an Amazon registry filled with essential items that directly benefit individuals and families in our community. These items include everyday basics that help provide comfort, dignity, and care to those experiencing hardship.

If you feel called to help, you can purchase an item directly from the list and have it shipped to us.

Every donation — big or small — makes a meaningful difference.

Together, we can show our community that no one has to face difficult times alone.

Homelessness doesn’t only happen in big cities.
It happens in small towns, too often, quietly, often unseen.

It might be the person sleeping in their car at the edge of town…
The family is staying temporarily with friends…
The individual works every day but is still unable to afford housing.

In a small community, it can be easier to hide, but the need is still very real.

Our neighbors deserve safety, dignity, and hope. Together, we can make sure no one feels invisible.
