Friends,

The next meeting of the Hastings Area Historical Society will be held on June 9th at 7:00 PM at the Pleasant Hill Library in Hastings.

Following our business meeting, Heather Loeske will deliver a presentation titled "Delivering in a Divided Nation: Mail Service in the Mid-19th Century." Heather is a Social Studies teacher from Cannon Falls and a dedicated member of the 3rd Minnesota Civil War reenactment group. She has been involved with our Civil War event for several years.

Her presentation examines the vital role of the postal system during the American Civil War. As the nation split, the mail became a crucial lifeline connecting soldiers and civilians with loved ones and essential news. Heather will explore how postal workers and networks adapted to wartime challenges to maintain morale and personal connections across a divided nation.

Please join us for this engaging presentation and feel free to bring a friend.
