COPE Ministry

COPE Ministry Children of Pokot Educational Fund COPE was founded in 1997. The organization's headquarters is located in Lincoln, IL.

The African mission is located in Tapadany, Pokot, Kenya. The purpose of the organization is to provide a Christian education to the children of the Pokot tribe located in Kenya. The ultimate goal of COPE is to bring each of the Pokot children and adults to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Since 1997, the mission has grown and developed and become a center for the community, teaching Christian beliefs and ethics.

WE HAVE A SPONSOR PENDING
We have an urgent request for sponsors for 2 new COPE House children. These little ones are called Esther and Gideon. They are 4 and 5 years old. There was a collapse at a gold mine in our county on Thursday and their mother was buried alive while working there. They don’t have another parent or a relative capable of taking in two more children. To cover their needs at COPE House they each need a sponsor to pledge $40/month. If you are willing to sponsor either of these children, please email [email protected] and our sponsorship coordinator will get you set up. Thank you for praying for and supporting these children!

We serve hundreds of people with our Relief Food distribution every Thursday. We will be sharing about some of the individuals over the next several weeks.

This is Mary. She is 65 years old and lives in Tapadany village near the COPE Ministry Compound. She stays with her daughter because she is disabled. Her family comes from a humble background. They don't have enough land to do farming or grow much of a personal garden even. She also have 6 grand children some of them are in our school in the Good Samaritan Program and are being sponsored by people from the States. Mary has been receiving Relief Food for many years and is a valued member of our community here in the village.

Today is the National Day of Prayer. Prayer is so important to COPE Ministry. We often say that prayer is the most effective way to support our ministry. In a world where the need is so overwhelming and the darkness feels all encompassing, we worship a God who has overcome it all. We have very real hope because we can bring our burdens to the foot of the throne of the King of the Universe. Let’s making everyday a National Day of Prayer!

Students bring firewood to school when they can to help fuel our kitchen fires. With our new jikos we are able to reduce the amount of firewood we need significantly, but it still takes a good amount to make two meals a day for 700+ students and employees!
