The Hawaii State Department of Health advises beach users to stay out of waters that appear brown or murky, especially following storms or heavy rain, even if a Brown Water Advisory has not been issued in the area.

Private nonprofit organizations, including houses of worship, in Kauaʻi and Maui Counties may qualify for FEMA Public Assistance to help recover from damage caused by Hurricane Lowell on September 6–9, 2026.

Eligible organizations may receive reimbursement for qualifying disaster-related expenses, including emergency protective measures, debris removal, and restoration of damaged facilities.

The deadline to submit a Request for Public Assistance is November 6, 2026. Organizations are encouraged to apply as soon as possible and can request assistance by emailing [email protected].
