SAVE THE DATE 📍APRIL 18,2025 for a COMMUNITY ART NIGHT rooted in collaboration for a good cause as 2025 cohort team: Mental Health and Wellbeing team up with local artist .creates (also a previous LK graduate) to help raise awareness through a mobile mural painting with a chosen message for to travel with throughout the island, as they activly engaging with the community, sparking conversation about youth mental health and substance abuse resources!

The evening will begin with our Keiki and Me program from 4:30 to 5:30pm, as always this includes mindfulness, movement and creative art. For this specific session, Keiki will be the first two paint on the Mobil mural.

At 5:30 opens up to the public and Storybook Theatre Opens their second floor to the community for a meaningful evening of art and conversation.

Lights snacks, healthy refreshments, and giveaways will also be available throughout the evening! While this event is free to the community donations are welcomed as we come together and raise funds for mental health services for those in need!

This March we are hosting a workshop for TLC facilitator training on Saturdays, March 1 & 15, 2025 and you’re invited!

This training will allow you to lead The Leadership Challenge as a trained facilitator for your teams as well as helping the community learn these skills. Plus, our programs are expanding and trained facilitators are needed. This is a fun workshop to learn facilitation!

On Friday, January 10th LK 2025 learned about the origins of Kaua’i and the leadership needed to get us here today.

Churchy Boy Chock, ED at the Kaua’i museum told us stories of kings and queens, wisdom and patience. He let us see history up close and helped us understand our importance within history.

We were grateful for the humility shown by our island leader, Mayor Kawakami who always shares his passion and gratitude for Kaua’i with the LK class.

And last but certainly not least, County Council Chair Mel Rapozo challenged us to sit in the hot seat and get involved! Who knows, we may have a future council member in this year’s class!!

October 18th’s class was filled with lots of gratitude and inspiration. The class paddled to Alekoko fishpond where they learned the rich cultural history of the pond and Mālama Hulēʻiaʻs efforts to remove mangrove from the Hulēʻia River.

The morning included an educational talk, due to heavy rain, and community service by way of removing high tide debris, followed by a short paddle back to Kauai Sailing Association.

The afternoon with Rep. Luke Evslin, Jan TenBruggencate and Todd Ozaki who shared the importance of community involvement, relationships, project planning, and Aloha.

Special mahalo to Sara Bowen, Peleke Flores, Luke Evslin, Jan TenBruggencate, and Todd Ozaki for sharing their stories and wisdom with us - perseverance, self-reflection and community engagement.

“From all walks of life our paths cross now.
Embarking on a journey to learn how.
Leadership is a process that’s learned with practice. Sometimes it feels like griping cactus.
