Mahalo to everyone who participated in our 20th anniversary celebration today!

I can’t even begin to explain how heartwarming it was to be surrounded by so many from our community who care so deeply about our place and its future.

All of the familiar faces and friends gathered together to discuss food access, sharing skills and knowledge with one another, and learning about our potential future leaders was inspiring and reaffirms the importance of all of us working together for another 20 years toward the future we want for our island.

From all of us at Mālama Kaua’i - a huge mahalo for everyone who engaged today in making the day so special! We hope you feel as recommitted as we do in creating the change we want to see, while preserving what makes Kaua’i such an extraordinary place to call home.

One question we get every summer is why we don’t share photos of families receiving Kaukau 4 Keiki food boxes.

The answer: we believe every family deserves dignity and privacy when accessing support. On an island where we’re all connected, protecting that privacy matters.

Instead, we choose to highlight the community members who make this program possible.
The farmers who grow the food.
The donors who invest in local families.
The volunteers who pack boxes.
The host sites who distribute boxes.

They are the hands behind the abundance & collective action. Their generosity is what turns local food into nourishment for keiki across our island.

Mahalo to everyone who helps create a community rooted in abundance and aloha. 🌱💚

🌱🥥 Food Access Starts with Protecting What Feeds Us 🥥🌱

The Kaua’i Food Access Plan is about more than increasing access to healthy, local foods… it’s also about protecting the environment that makes food security possible.

One challenge facing us now is the impact of invasive species, including the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB). These beetles threaten coconuts and other important cultural plants that contribute to our local ecosystems, cultural practices, and food systems.

Join us on June 13 to learn how invasive species management supports long-term food access and community resilience.

We’ll be joined by partners sharing info about CRB, prevention efforts, and ways residents can help protect Kaua’i’s natural and agricultural resources such as & more. We’ll also be announcing our new CRB Green Waste Management mini grant program round thanks to

Together, we can strengthen food access while protecting the lands and resources that sustain our communities.
