Have you ever traveled down the Ohio River? Passed along the White Cliffs of the Missouri in Montana? Or cruised through the Columbia River Gorge? Ever wonder what some segments of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail look like today?

Now it’s easy to explore the Trail with a new, interactive, panoramic map. It shows more than 4,900 miles of river corridors, historic sites, and landscapes.

The 360-degree imagery helps you experience the Trail in a new and immersive way. You can “move up and down” along the route just as if you were there. Think of it as “street-view” for the Trail.

This amazing virtual experience was produced in partnership with Terrain 360 with support from the Lewis and Clark Trust. It also serves as a long-term visual record that supports stewardship and resource management along the trail.

A remarkable piece of history has been uncovered at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West!

The Center recently authenticated 33 historic medals, including rare peace medals dating from the early 1800s. Among them are two Jefferson Indian peace medals connected to the Lewis & Clark Expedition, including one of only three known to have been carried on the 1804–1806 journey.

Using historical research, physical examination, and scientific analysis, researchers are continuing to uncover the stories behind these remarkable artifacts.
