We were thrilled last week to host a group of 20 middle and early high schoolers for a week of civics education and fun! The students got to learn about government, elections, urban planning, public parks, giving back to the community, public works, and more. Thanks so much to Mayor Linda Gorton, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council and their staff (Lexington Vice Mayor Dan Wu and 3rd District Councilmember Tom Eblen in particular!), Live Green Lexington, CivicLex, Lexington Area MPO, Lextran, Visit LEX, and for all your help to share the importance of civics with our youth!

Our friends at Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington packed the KRM Lex van and another car FULL of critically needed toiletries, cleaning supplies, and diapers. We can't thank the UUCL community enough for their support through the seasons as we work to make central Kentucky home for refugees and immigrants 🧑🩡

Back in May we put out a call for donations of diapers and wipes to support our families and we have been so grateful to see our community pitch in for their neighbors! A few more groups have ongoing drives, but we've already collected nearly πŸŽ‰$3,000πŸŽ‰ worth of diapers and wipes, which will make a huge difference in the lives of our littlest clients and their families.

Many thanks to the generous individuals who have contributed, as well as the faith communities at Offerings Community of Lexington First United Methodist Church, The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church, , , and others!

We have ongoing needs for diapers, wipes, toiletries, and cleaning supplies, all of which help our clients tremendously as they work to feed their families. Especially now that most of those families are excluded from SNAP benefits, these donations are critically important. If you or your group would like to support refugees and immigrants on a regular basis, please reach out! We'd love to talk!
