The Lexington Division of Emergency Management has activated Phase 1 of its Extreme Heat Plan. The activation is in effect today (Monday, July 27th) through tomorrow evening (Tuesday, July 28th).
At this stage of activation:
❄️ Partner organizations of the Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention will operate as cooling stations
🚍 Lextran will offer free, fixed route rides to identified cooling stations for individuals experiencing homelessness
📢 Outreach teams will be in the community distributing supplies and assisting persons in accessing cooling stations and shaded spaces.
