At the 2026 Association of Pedestrian & Bicycle Professionals Conference in Pittsburgh, NYC DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn kicked off day two with an engaging keynote: “At events like this…[let’s] keep working to save our community members money, save them time, and save lives out on our streets.”

Commissioner Flynn shared why this opportunity at was especially meaningful to him, reflecting on his experience working on many great projects in Pittsburgh. He also spoke about the important role APBP has played throughout his professional journey — providing mentorship, educational opportunities, and meaningful connections.

kicked off on Monday, August 10 with an amazing panel discussion all about Pittsburgh's history, track record of innovation, and lessons learned after hosting events such as the successful NFL Draft — including insights on bike share, transit, volunteer engagement, and communications.
