We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beloved Jim Ramsey. Jim helped make the Catholic Action Center possible and supported us always. We will strive to carry on his legacy of love and kindness.
Final Statement of James T. Ramsey (Jim)
On Thursday September 17, 2026 Jim Ramsey, loving husband of Ginny and devoted father of Jena, passed away to join his son Jimmy, grandson James Abel, greatgrandson Baby Cad and many of his family and friends in the loving embrace of our God. For those who knew Jim, their first thought will be of his kindness, non-judgemental acceptance and love of all things good. Born on February 6, 1948 Jim grew up in Frankfort KY, son of Dr. James T. and Kathleen Ramsey with 6 siblings: Josie, Steve, David, Bob, John and Karen. He attended Good Shepherd Grade and High School, Bellarmine College, Ky State University and graduated from the School of Business at the University of Kentucky. Jim was married to Ginny Davis Ramsey, the daughter of Harry and Mary Davis of Frankfort in August of 1969. His greatest days of joy were at the birth of his son Jimmy and his daughter Jena. Jim was an avid fan of UK football and basketball: his annual UK football trips to away SEC games and trips to NCAA championship basketball games were highlights he shared with life long friends. After a career in IT, Jim retired in 2014. His life was full of family, friends, love and a passion for justice. His unselfishness was the cornerstone for the Catholic Action Center to be created in 1999 to serve the homeless and forgotten in our community. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ginny, amazing daughter Jena, his grandchildren Darian and Aleks and great granddaughter Holly; his siblings: Josie (Glenn) Stegmann, Steve, David (Cora), Bob (Ann), John (Lisa), Karen, and Jean along with cousins, nieces, nephews, in laws and friends from far and wide who touched his life as he touched theirs. Jim believed in keeping things simple, so in that spirit, there is a private family service at Pax Christi with his internment in the Pax Christi Peace Garden with his son Jimmy. On October 10 at 7:00pm a public Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at the Cathedral of Christ the King 299 Colony Blvd beginning with a prayer service followed by a joyful tailgate party in Hehman Hall. Come celebrate in true Jim fashion!
Jim loved beauty, but loved people more, so if you wish to make a donation or remembrance in his name, he preferred that instead of flowers, a donation be made to the Winter Emergency Housing Fund of the Catholic Action Center to keep our homeless from dying alone on the streets this winter. Those donations can be sent to the Catholic Action Center P.O. Box 324 Lexington, KY 40588 or online at catholicactioncenter.net/donate.
Jim was a miracle who believed that we are here on earth to share love and kindness, so pass his miracle of love and kindness along to someone today.
