Merrick Lodge #31 is an inactive lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Lexington, KY. The lodge was established under the Grand Lodge of Kentucky on November 16, 1846, which is 19 years before the University of Kentucky was founded. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows in North America was founded on April 26, 1819 while

Oddfellowship itself dates back much later, with the earliest record of a modern lodge is from Loyal Aristarchus Oddfellow Lodge no. 9 in England, dated 12 March 1748. Oral history dates back much later though, with roots in either Ancient Roman charitable groups or English guilds of the late 1600s-early 1700s. To this day the Oddfellows remain a fraternal society dedicated to Friendship, Love, and Truth. Within the society you will find a common bond and friendship as well as a drive and desire to help our fellow man.
