No matter how you look at it, vouchers take public funds from public schools, where 90% of students go, and gives them to private schools.
The U.S. Treasury Department just released rules about how it will implement the nationās first federal voucher program, and itās bad news for students.
They are looking for your input.
Let the Treasury Department know what you think of the federal voucher programāand how it will harm students and your local public schools.

Governors that decide to participate will be welcoming a near-universal voucher program into their state, with zero flexibility to add guardrails or accountability.
Vouchers will explode. The program is estimated to cost as much as $50 billionāthatās five times more than all state voucher programs COMBINED. It's more than federal funding for both IDEA and Title I.
Is that how we want to spend public fundsāgiving it to parents who already send their children to private school, instead of helping all students access quality programs that give them the opportunities they need to learn and grow?
Whatās worse, the program could lead to public school closures, as states and districts try to close the gap when federal funding goes down because of enrollment losses.
Submitting a public comment will show how many people oppose vouchers and force the Treasury Department to respond to the publicās concerns.
We must reject vouchers in all their forms, including the federal voucher program.
