Another 17-hour day!

Started the day at the SOAR conference in Corbin, with Terrell Renfro with KY LECET and Lonnie Calvert with DEROC. Connected with organizations and community leaders focused on creating opportunities and putting more Kentuckians to work.

Then it was back to the Hall to put our Local 189 members to work, followed by another lengthy Lexington City Council meeting.

Representing our members takes hard work, long hours, building relationships, and showing up where decisions are made. The work doesn't stop when the meetings end.

Long days, hard work, and unwavering commitment to Local 189!

Business Manager Jeremy Jenkins attended the public listening forum at Lexington council chambers on data centers last night. Over 100 speakers signed up to speak.

I applaud the council for their patience and time listening to all their constituents. It was definitely a late night.

As the ZOTA develops, regulations should protect the environment, keep utility costs from being pushed onto local residents, and include strong local hire requirements especially for union skilled trades.

Build local. Hire local. Protect our community.

Another long day ,but another day spent standing up for working people!

We started the day with a listening session with our legislators, hearing directly from Kentuckians across our jurisdiction about their concerns surrounding data centers and what their arrival could mean for our communities.

“IF” data centers come to our area, we’re going to be at the table. We’ll work with our legislators to make sure these projects create good paying jobs for Kentuckians and opportunities for union workers.

Our communities should benefit from the investment coming into them, and the people doing the work should be able to earn a good living and build a better future for their families.

Later, we joined local candidates for a Meet the Candidates event to talk about the issues facing working people and, most importantly, how we can work together to strengthen labor and improve the lives of members across our jurisdiction.

We’ll keep showing up. We’ll keep speaking up. And we’ll keep fighting for our Members!
