Lexington Leadership Foundation

Lexington Leadership Foundation Let's transform Lexington, together. We cultivate this shift in thinking by driving the wheel of permanent change.

Lexington Leadership Foundation (LLF) believes that how we engage people and challenges will impact the future success and cohesiveness of Lexington whether for good or ill. LLF sees the city, especially urban neighborhoods as places of promise and possibility, opportunity, and faith, rather than risk and uncertainty. With leadership at its core, the wheel of change is fueled by three strategic fu

nctions- engaging people of faith and good will, building capacity of others and developing joint initiatives. As leaders and organizations employ these three strategic functions our city becomes better. In short, Lexington is transformed by Jesus into a City for God. We have 4 initiatives that are under the umbrella of Lexington Leadership Foundation: Amachi Central Kentucky which is our one-on-one mentoring program for children and teens impacted by incarceration. Urban Impact which has after-school programming, sports, and extra-curricular activities for children and teens with a group mentoring emphasis. Our Fatherhood Initiative that offers free parenting classes and support to men and families. And our Prayer Room which operates 7 days a week with prayer and worship and connects different streams of the Body of Christ together.

Our Barnabas Project Fellows, mentors, and site hosts recently gathered for a celebration dinner to reflect on the growth of our first cohort! We are incredibly proud of the 2025 – 2026 Barnabas Fellows and grateful for the ways they have served our city.

Only a few spots remain in the upcoming Barnabas Fellows Cohort. Thanks to support from Lilly Endowment and Leadership Foundation's Global Office, fellows receive a paid opportunity to grow in leadership, serve the city, and experience Christian community.

Applications are due by June 1 and include a multi-step discernment process. If you know a young adult who may be a strong fit, please encourage them to apply online or reach out directly to [email protected].

At the start of May, we were able to celebrate some of our Amachi and Urban Impact seniors, thanks to the generosity of our partners! Our friend, , took some fantastic senior photos, and our friends provided each graduate with a gift and handwritten cards of congratulations.

We're so grateful for a community that celebrates with us and so proud of our high school grads. We can't wait to see you cross the stage in a few weeks!

We are incredibly thankful for the volunteers from Crossroads Lexington who took time this past Saturday to help with a landscaping project at our Fatherhood Center! They mulched, planted, and mowed even through the rain showers! They worked so hard to keep our space beautiful and to remind our dads that they are worthy of dignity.

We are also thankful for Joe Brewer and LexCut Lawn and Landscaping for donating brand new mulch!

We are grateful to partner with Life Adventure Center and support opportunities like Fostering Unity Through Adventure!

Programs like this give families the chance to grow together through shared experiences, encouragement, and time spent outdoors. These moments help build confidence, trust, and connection for both youth and caregivers.

"Having an Amachi mentor means having someone I can always come to."
-Mentee, Precious-

Whether it's practicing driving or studying together, Precious knows that she always has someone to turn to when she needs a listening ear or a word of encouragement. She and our Director of Community Engagement, Maggie, have spent many hours together over the past few years-- setting goals, learning, and laughing together!

Showing up consistently for a young person can make all the difference! Your financial support helps us sustain this type of mentorship for 125+ active matches.

If you donate between 5-6pm, your donation may be matched by KY Gives! Click the link below to donate-- only a few hours left!
