The Heroes Among Us Foundation, Inc.

Unfortunately, the Heroes Among Us Foundation will not be in attendance at the Gatton Park Give 8/28 Lex Giving Day Celebration tonight. We will be taking this time to be with family.

While we hate to miss the celebration, we are still accepting donations through Give 8/28! Every gift helps us continue our mission of empowering and supporting our youth.

If you’d like to support Heroes Among Us Foundation, you can donate here:https://www.bggives.org/organization/the-heroes-among-us-foundation?fbclid=IwY2xjawT-l4VwZG9mAWV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAGJyaWQRMW5STHZocTZGdkdOODJDRm5zcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeQpTWysH3Gk4nMzCNXlLvSueA8AXcYbMGBPzn43JvGDNUpfiLpB-hDIc_ORw_aem_QqVV2msNVhnIswOvTdWdDw

Give 8/28 – Heroes Among Us Foundation

Thank you for your continued support, generosity, and understanding.

This is more than a fundraiser—it’s Lexington showing what collective generosity can do. In 2025, Give 8/28 Lex raised $234,956 for 40 Black-serving nonprofits, doubling the previous year’s results. Since launching in 2023, the campaign has raised more than $350,000 for local impact. Now it’s our turn to go even bigger.

Pull up to Gatton Park on August 28 from 5–9 PM for food, music, live performances, games and giveaways. Come celebrate, give with purpose and help keep NCM’s mission moving.

We believe Lexington is full of assets especially the young people who will shape its future.

At the Heroes Among Us Foundation, we help students explore college, careers, and opportunities beyond their neighborhoods while preparing them to make a successful transition into their next chapter. But our hope is bigger than helping students leave, we want to help them come back equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to strengthen the communities that raised them.

On Give 8/28, we’re asking you to invest in that vision. Your support helps us continue creating opportunities for underrepresented youth to explore, grow, and become the next generation of Lexington’s community leaders.

💙 Help us invest in our greatest Lexington assets—our youth.

Our Stuff the Bus project would not have been possible without the incredible people and businesses who showed up in so many different ways.

To everyone who donated, packed kits, distributed supplies, welcomed students, offered a friendly face, and helped create such a warm and intimate space, thank you.

And to the people who made the space beautiful and added those special touches! Annie with the beautiful brown paper sign, Twisted Creations with the balloons, and Rayann’s Popcorn for the thoughtful thank-you gifts, you helped make the day feel extra special.

Events like Stuff the Bus simply could not happen without you. We are so grateful for every person, business, and sponsor who helped make this day possible. ❤️🚌✨Encouraging All Families Shaleta Jackson Lexington Urban League Young Professionals Martin Ashford

Meet Our Future Heroes 🎓❤️

Today, we’re celebrating the students behind Stuff the Bus—their hard work, their dreams, and the exciting paths they’re about to take.

Each student is pictured with the college they’ll be attending and the major they’ve chosen to pursue. These choices represent years of effort, growth, and determination, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. We hope you take everything you learn, the skills you develop, and the knowledge you gain and one day bring it all back home to Lexington.

Congratulations to each of you! 🎉 Thank you for putting in the work to get here. Your journey is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see where it takes you.
