🍂📚 Mark your calendar, book lovers.

If you’re ready for crisp-air reading, cozy little finds, and a Saturday spent wandering and treasure hunting, this one is for you.

FOTL will be one of many vendors at the cozy Fall Book Market at Teal Lane Event Center!

The market will be filled with all the things that make fall feel like fall: books, local authors, candles, soaps, bookmarks, baked treats, fall dĂŠcor, bookish goodies, and plenty of cozy finds to wander through.

We’ll have some of our book sale inventory available, too! Come say hi, learn more about Friends of the Library, and browse our gently used books, available for a donation of your choosing.

And there’s a little extra reason to come: a portion of the $2 entry fee will be donated to FOTL, so your afternoon of fall fun helps support the library, too.

🏈 Football season is warming up, and the Book Nook is here for it!

Time to dust off the jerseys, settle in for the games, and have very strong opinions about teams we have absolutely no control over. 😂

Whether you’re the one watching every down and keeping up with the stats, or you just love a good sports read, we’ve got some football books waiting for you at the Book Nook.

And if your Sunday afternoons consist mostly of “yay, go blue team!” these make great gifts, too. 🤣

You’ve been asking, so here are the dates!

The Friends of the Lewiston City Library Book Sale returns December 3–5.

This is one of our twice-a-year sales, so if you like finding good books at good prices, you’ll want this one on your calendar.

Thursday, December 3: 2–6:30 PM
Friday, December 4: 10 AM–4:30 PM
Saturday, December 5: 10 AM–2 PM

We’ll share more details as we get closer.

There’s something special about finding a handwritten inscription tucked inside a used book.

Some are sweet. Some are funny. Some make us wonder about the story behind the words and the people who wrote and received them.

Every one is a little reminder that these books have lived lives before they arrive on our shelves. They’ve been gifts, keepsakes, bedtime stories, summer reads, and companions through different seasons of life.

And now, they’re waiting for their next chapter.

That’s part of the treasure hunt of used books: you never quite know what you’ll find inside.

Swipe through a few of the inscriptions we’ve discovered in donated books. And if you have gently used books ready for their next chapter, consider sharing them with the Friends of the Library. Donations can be brought to any Lewiston City Library checkout desk.

Your books can find someone new to love them, and their next chapter can help fund some of the Lewiston City Library’s most beloved programs and events.

For this week’s Book Nook selection, we’re highlighting books that invite you to discover the lives, accomplishments, and contributions of women throughout history, in recognition of Women’s Equality Day.

There are countless stories worth knowing, and no two are quite alike. Take a look through the shelves and see what sparks your curiosity!

New to the Book Nook? It’s a year-round collection of gently used books from the Friends of the Library’s book-sale inventory. Books are available for purchase by donation (you choose the amount), and every purchase helps fund library programs and projects.

Garage sale season means one thing: eventually, there’s a box of things that didn’t sell.

Before those books, movies, music, and games get shoved back into a closet for another year, consider donating them to Friends of the Library.

We accept books, DVDs, VHS, CDs, audiobooks, vinyl records, games and puzzles, and unused notebooks.

Friends of the Library sells your donations, giving those items a second life. The funds generated make Lewiston library favorites like Summer Reading, Library on the Go, and adult and youth classes possible.

So when the garage sale is over and you’re left with that one last box… bring it to us.

Donations can be brought to any Lewiston City Library checkout desk.

And please share this post! There are still so many people in our community who don’t realize they can donate these items to benefit the library. Help us spread the word so more people know about this option. Thank you!

Want to know what it’s really like to be famous, build an empire, raise a family in the spotlight, reinvent yourself, or completely change the course of your life?

Good news. Someone has already written the memoir.

This week’s Book Nook is filled with biographies and memoirs from fascinating people with fascinating stories.

Come borrow someone else’s life for a few hours.

The Book Nook is located inside the Lewiston City Library by the east entrance and elevators. All books and media are community-donated, and you choose how much you’d like to donate for the items you take home.

Your donations help Friends of the Library support library programs and events in our community.
