Ever wonder what keeps library programs free, active, and full of things people actually show up for?
Friends of the Library is a nonprofit that raises funds to support the programs people love most, such as Library on the Go, summer reading, youth and adult classes, outreach, and community events that reach all ages.
And right now, we’re looking for more volunteers to help keep that going.
Because here’s what changes when more people get involved: more support for programs, more momentum for events, and more of the library experiences the community already counts on.
Volunteers stay closely connected to what’s happening at the library with early notification and early access to special events and book sales (yes, first pick matters). There’s also a growing sense of community among people who care about books, learning, and keeping something good going locally. A Friends newsletter and Friends-only activities deepen that connection even further.
Volunteer roles are simple but meaningful: shelving books, sorting donated materials, and helping during our biannual book sales (one of the biggest fundraisers of the year).
To get involved, you can apply at the library, send a message with questions, or print an application at home (https://lewistonlibrary.org/DocumentCenter/View/3999/Volunteer_App_2023) and bring it into the library.
