Community Action Partnership-Northern Idaho & Asotin County, WA

Community Action Partnership-Northern Idaho & Asotin County, WA Community Action Partnership is a catalyst for building relationships that inspire and equip people to end poverty in our community.

Who We Are
Community Action Agencies are private non-profit or public organizations that were created by the federal government in 1964 to combat poverty in geographically designated areas. Status as a Community Action Agency is the result of an explicit designation by local or state government. A Community Action Agency has a tripartite board structure that is designated to promote the participat

ion of the entire community in the reduction or elimination of poverty. Community Action Agencies seek to involve the community, including elected public officials, private sector representatives, and especially low-income residents, in assessing local needs and attacking the causes and conditions of poverty. Structure
A Community Action Agency:

has received designation as a Community Action Agency;
is recognized as an eligible entity as defined in the CSBG Act and can receive funding from the state under Community Services Block Grant;
has a governing board consisting of at least one-third democratically selected representatives of low-income people, one-third local public officials or their designees, and the remainder representatives of of the private sector in the community; and
belongs to a national network of similar agencies, the majority of which received their initial designation, federal recognition and funding under the amended Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. Why We're Unique
Most poverty-related organizations focus on a specific area of need, such as job training, health care, housing or economic development. Community Action Agencies reach out to low-income people in their communities, address their multiple needs through a comprehensive approach, develop partnerships with other community organizations, involve low-income clients in the agency’s operations, and administer a full-range of coordinated programs designed to have an measurable impact on poverty. Community Action Partnership is a community action agency serving the 10 northernmost counties in Idaho and Asotin County in Washington.

Watch Your Step—Safety Starts Here 💚

As we wrap up National Safety Month, Community Action Partnership is focusing on preventing slips, trips, and falls—one of the most common causes of injuries at work and at home.
The good news? Many of these incidents are preventable with a little awareness and a few simple actions.

Here are a few ways to stay safe:
✅ Keep walkways clear – Remove clutter, cords, and obstacles that can cause trips
✅ Clean up spills immediately – Wet or slick surfaces are a major hazard
✅ Wear appropriate footwear – Shoes with good traction make a difference
✅ Be mindful of your surroundings – Watch for uneven surfaces, stairs, and changes in flooring
✅ Use handrails and proper lighting – Especially in high-traffic or low-light areas

At Community Action Partnership, we are committed to creating safe spaces for our staff, clients, and communities. By staying aware and taking small steps each day, we can prevent injuries and keep everyone safe.

🎉 Honoring Juneteenth: Freedom, Resilience, and Community 🖤❤️💚

On June 19th, we commemorate Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey toward justice and liberation.

At Community Action Partnership, we are committed to building communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

📢 Office Closure Notice
Community Action Partnership will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that enslaved individuals were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

This important day is a time to reflect on freedom, history, and the ongoing pursuit of equality for all.

We will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22nd. Thank you for your understanding.

Healthy People. Safer Communities. 💚

Throughout National Safety Month, Community Action Partnership is highlighting the importance of promoting holistic worker health—because safety isn’t just physical. It includes our mental, emotional, and overall well-being.

When we take care of the whole person, we create stronger teams, safer workplaces, and healthier communities. Supporting wellness helps reduce stress, improve focus, and prevent injuries before they happen.

Here are a few ways we can all support holistic health:
✅ Prioritize mental well-being – Take breaks, manage stress, and check in with yourself and others
✅ Support physical health – Stay active, get enough rest, and listen to your body
✅ Encourage open communication – Speak up about concerns and create a supportive environment
✅ Maintain work-life balance – Taking time to recharge helps you stay safe and productive
✅ Look out for one another – A simple check-in can make a big difference

At Community Action Partnership, we are committed to supporting the well-being of our staff, clients, and community members. Together, we can build a culture where health and safety go hand in hand—every day.
