AROO enjoyed a beautiful Latin Dance Night under the stars at El Coqui LLC with Katrina and DJ Spinnit! We learned how to dance the Cumbia and then Salsa’d the night away.

A huge thank you to everyone who brought much-needed pet food for our local Pet Pantry, as well as to those who made generous cash donations. Your support makes such a difference for pets and families in our community. 🐾❤️

A follow up to yesterday's post about the first phase of our play yards beautification projects. After the shade sails, we will be installing automatic sprinklers for the yards and then overseeding and then landscaping around the perimeters. Why, you ask, would AROO spend so much effort and around $10,000.00 to do all this? The attached pictures and videos tell the story. While waiting to be adopted, you can see how much the shelter dogs benefit from some time out of their kennels having fun and getting attention from Shelter Volunteers in the play yards. We've seen just one good outing a day and their state of mind, kennel presence and just adoptability greatly improves.
These projects will provide much needed shade in the Summer, reduce dirt and mud in the Winter and just make the yards a much nicer place to spend some quality time.
We are so grateful to our volunteers working on the projects, donors who have made this possible, and to our partners in these projects who have donated time and materials - Dysons Building Center, JBrowne Excavators and Automatic Rain Sprinklers.

We've been working to get approval for our Shelter play yard projects for a while, and with that in place we got the first leg of our Play Yards Oasis project going on Saturday. The dogs play yards behind the St. Mary's County Animal Services shelter are wide open and sun baked/hot in the Summer - not conducive to the dog running and playing that is so good and important. The first leg of our project is to install shade sails over all three of the yards.
Sincere thanks to Dyson lumber who donated some of the 16' 6x6 posts and gave us great prices on the remainder, and to JBrowne Excavating who brought the auger, without which we'd still be digging 5 foot deep holes! We had 12 volunteers who worked their butts off in very hot weather to get all the posts placed, straight and backfilled. BTW, a 16' 6x6 is pretty dag nab heavy! Thank you Dale, Steve, John, Murph, Tracy, Lano, Dan, Mange, Paul, Brian, Amy and Ryan.

Something adorable is coming to Hype House... and trust us, you're going to want to be part of it!

We're teaming up with AROO (Animal Rescue & Outreach Organization) to bring you the most heart-melting event of the summer... KITTEN YOGA! 🧘‍♀️🐱

Picture this... a relaxing yoga flow surrounded by playful, curious rescue kittens climbing on your mat, stealing your heart, and filling the room with smiles. It's the perfect mix of movement, mindfulness, cuddles, and community—all while supporting an incredible local rescue dedicated to giving animals a second chance.

🐱 The best part? Every kitten at the event will be available for adoption! If you fall in love (and we're pretty sure you will), you may just leave with your newest family member. Adoption fees are $75, paid directly to AROO, and help support their mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in our community.
