🎲Join PFLAG Southern Maryland for an evening of fun, games, and community at Swords & Spoons in California, MD on Saturday, August 29th, from 6 PM to 9 PM! With 120+ games to choose from, there’s something for everyone, whether you're a seasoned gamer or a beginner. 🍕FREE pizza and light snacks will be provided by PFLAG Southern Maryland.

LGBTQ+ individuals and allies welcome; all ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend—novices and experienced gamers alike! Come solo or bring your friends. It's the perfect chance to meet new people, make connections, and have a blast in a fun, inclusive environment. We can’t wait to see you there!

Public librarian, historian, and friend of PFLAG Southern Maryland, Ben Egerman, has been writing stories from the state’s q***r past into zines and is formally releasing a collection of them in a book, called A Gay Little History of Maryland.

Happy International Nonbinary People’s Day! 💛🤍💜🖤

➡️ What does it mean to be “nonbinary”?
Nonbinary refers to people who do not subscribe to the gender binary. Some use the term exclusively, while others may use it interchangeably with terms like genderq***r, genderfluid, gender non-conforming, gender diverse, or gender expansive. It can also be combined with other descriptors e.g. nonbinary woman or transmasc nonbinary. Language is imperfect, so it’s important to trust and respect the words that nonbinary people use to describe their genders and experiences.

“Pulled from newspaper archives, court records, letters, and stories told by community elders... the zines in this volume cover a 150-year span, from transmasculine horse thief George Wilson in 1838 to the passage of Baltimore's gay rights bill in 1988. In between are stories about gay bar raids, secret drag bars, le***an murder trials of the century, Black drag pageants in the 1930s, wealthy le***an heiresses, and the birth of the LGBTQ+ movement in Baltimore.”
